Do you wonder why some trainers use differant colour dummies?
This is your dogs view on colours.

Hope you can see why the novices have blue/ white striped or full colours and green
While
The intermediate will have green to red to fluorescent Orange.
All goes to helping your dog understanding what we require of them.

Good old green dummies and white socks. Was all we used to use. 😂

Always a pleasure to judge a Field trial and see lovely young dogs starting their careers.

Today was a privilege to be Judging for North West Labrador club at the prestigious Chatsworth House with the Duchess of Devonshire, attending and hosting the club.

Out picking up yesterday.Highlighted a few little issues, to the point I pulled out of a trial.
These trials are not to be taken lightly,
if you are not up to standard you shouldn’t be running

Back to the training, but isn’t it annoying when your best retrieves and work are never under a Judge.

Out training yesterday atBroadoak Gundog Training Ground beginners/ novices had a lively lesson, learning about their own management, with other dogs working.
The intermediate had tight angles and blind retrieves no foot scent as put out over a fence early in the morning
Using the retrieves for double stops and handling
A 121 puppy finished the day in the pouring rain

A rather wet day training on Saturday
But didn’t dampen our spirits
After a lesson on the grid with a young dog, working on connecting the stop whistle with a retrieve and the dog learning what we wanted from

The intermediate class started with a makeup drive and then being sent on potential areas of runners( blinds no shot) I must say it’s getting more difficult to set things as the dogs and handlers are doing so well

The intermediate group had some tough cover to go through for blinds and delayed memories
Plenty of stop whistle work in to day and some great wins

This is a young dog with a novice handler that came to me, with no recall or bond with each other
Now look at them go ❤️
Today we worked on lines developing length from a memory area, getting longer on each retrieve, using white dummies, through cover to a clear grass area, for a confident pick
