Today we had two wonderful ladies come and visit us here at Jahanda to have a look at Rippa, as most of you are aware he was our first buck we purchased for our herd, friendly and easy to handle, and such a spunky attitude at times.

We have not used him as our sire for a couple years now due to having a lot of his genetics in our herd and having our other bucks here that we are using.

We are pleased to say he has found his new home and some new does to make himself acquainted with, we are sure he will be very happy.

After quite a few wet days today we had a relatively nice one today.

Bree, Bekki and Bindi are sick of Snickers and his Bucky antics but I’m keeping them in with him until their next cycle to make sure none of them come back into heat.

I moved Pickle back in with the other does because of the dominant does I have in with snickers, if she comes back into heat I’ll put her back in, Snickers did breed her the first day or so of being penned with her.

It’s getting exciting seeing udders starting to form, bellies getting bigger, I can’t wait for our upcoming kidding season, looking forward to seeing what is produced this year.

We will have kids available once weaned, so please message me if you are interested.

Hi all here are some photos from the last few days, we shuffled the herd around so we could put Bree, Bindi, Bekki and Pickle in with Snickers hopefully these does will kid later in the year.

Zazu and Rippa are looking quite sheepish as they had been showing off their prowess and head butting eachother.

Milo was too busy munching and the young doelings Bambi, Dreamer, Fawn, Astrid and Stormy were having trying get my phone, these 5 never stand still for pictures 😂
We are counting down the due dates for the ones in kid, Meadow and Paisley have been introduced to our herd and are in with the rest now.

Rippa is still looking for his new forever home. Message if you would like more information

Today we hoof trimmed the herd, we managed to get through them pretty quick (ended up smelling like bucks though haha)

Nathan suggested I have a go at using the ultrasound machine I bought last year, we have had Bindi and Bree come back into heat, so unfortunately as it sometimes happens the breeding with Zazu didn’t hold.
They were a good starting point and we could tell they were empty,
It was exciting to see the ones that are in kid and seeing spines, ribs, little legs.
Jack was very excited.

I’m not a professional by any stretch of the imagination but here are my tentative findings,

Dixie - possibly twins
Maple - possibly twins
Kaia - singleton

Here are some of the photos I took today,
Snickers wouldn’t look at me as he was too interested in the does, growing his hair back from the show ring, looking like he has a Mohawk.
Kaia looked like a loaf, this is her first time kidding so I’m excited to see what she produces.
Milo is growing out nicely.
Maple and Dixie are getting round
And Meadow and Paisley looking great and growing in their cashmere for winter.
If you would love to welcome a Jahanda goaty friend into your family please message me or fill out the form on our website.

❗️Important Information ❗️(copied from Petit Paradis Mini Goats)

Come July 1 2026 there will be a fee applied to new PIC number applications and subsequent renewals.
Renewals will occur on a three year cycle.

I would encourage anyone considering the addition of mini goats to their families to apply for their PIC number before July 1 as there is a legal requirement on all responsible breeders to ensure that their buyers have a registered PIC before completing sales.

This information is quoted from an email sent to registered PIC holders.

'From 1 July 2026, the application fee for a new PIC will be $78.40. The PIC renewal and amendment fee will be $39.20. All fees will be subject to legislated annual increases for inflation.'
'Renewals help to maintain a current and accurate Tasmanian PIC Register. This helps BT to respond in a quick and effective way if there is an emergency animal disease (EAD) outbreak. It also means we can contact you if there is an EAD outbreak so you can take steps to protect yourself and your animals.!
'You can apply for, amend or cancel PICs using the online PIC Registration and Amendment System (PRAS):

https://pras.biosecurity.tas.gov.au/pras/ui.

A new online PRAS is being developed that will streamline PIC management and allow you to pay your fees. You can still contact our team about other service and payment methods!

Get ahead of the game and apply for your PIC now.

A Property Identification Code (PIC) is a unique code allocated by the Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania (NRE Tas) to a property.

Exciting things have been in the works here at Jahanda, I think this is the best 40th birthday present I could get.

We are very proud to introduce two new does to our herd

Riverstone Meadow
Sire: Riverstone Mr J
Dam: Riverstone Mini Mouse
We cannot wait to see her mature, she is very friendly.

Riverstone Paisley
Sire: Riverstone Harlequin
Dam: Riverstone Australian Champion Harley Quinn
Like Meadow we can’t wait to see her mature, she is very sweet.

We know both of these does bring alot of amazing Australian Miniature genetics to our herd with their lines. We look forward to seeing what they produce and how they continue to grow.

We cannot thank Seleena and Stewart at Riverstone Miniature Goats enough for allowing us to welcome Meadow and Paisley to our home.

It is cold this morning here at Jahanda, the sun is shining but we have a big frost. I’m sure our herd will be soaking up the heat of the sun today.

We have decided this year to split our kidding’s up with a couple does being bred later in the year, Bekki was our last doe to kid last year so we decided to give her a bit of a break and Pickle is our smallest doe (she gets it from her dam) because of that we will have some kids available later in the year.

First we will have Kaia (I’ve noted down two dates for her so we shall see when she kids) and Maple both of these does have been bred to Snickers.

We will then have Bindi, Dixie and Bree (who I didn’t realise was bred until I saw her tail 🤦🏼‍♀️so I’m not sure of the date) these 3 have been bred to Zazu.

We are looking forward to seeing what is produced this year.

Kids will be available once weaned so if you are interested please message me or go to our website and fill out the contact form 😊

On Sunday I went to the Stonehaven show, with 7 other exhibitors and 68 entries our judge was Megan Kerr and steward Stephen F**g.

With car issues and no way of getting my little show team to the show we were extremely grateful to Krystal, Chris, Cindy and Stephen for coming and collecting them, housing them and bringing them home. It certainly means a lot.
