🐾 PUPPIES! 🐾

We love puppy season! We’ve seen some gorgeous little ones recently and have lots booked in for our discounted puppy courses, puppy packs, breeder packs, and full breeder support.

From health checks and vaccinations to flea and worming treatments, we help make sure every puppy gets the best possible start before heading off to their new homes.

It was lovely to meet little Teddy and AJ today! Sadly, Arthur Albert slept through the whole visit in the car and missed all the fun, but the puppies more than made up for it with plenty of cuddles and mischief. ❤️🐶

If you’re expecting a litter or bringing home a new puppy, get in touch to see how we can help.

⚖️ How to weigh your pet at home… Sussex Home Vets style! 🐾

People often ask us how to keep track of their pet’s weight between visits. The easiest way is:

1️⃣ Weigh yourself.
2️⃣ Pick up your pet and weigh both of you together.
3️⃣ Subtract your weight.

To avoid embarrassing any humans involved in this demonstration, we’ve used our official Sussex Home Vets unit of measurement: 1 Arthur Albert 👦☠️

Simply:
📏 Weigh yourself.
📏 Weigh yourself holding 1 pet.
📏 Subtract the number of Arthurs.

Works brilliantly for cats, small dogs, rabbits, and occasionally reluctant chickens.

For larger dogs, you’ll need either:
🐕 A very strong back
💪 Several Arthurs
🚜 Or a large set of scales!

Drop a photo below of your pet being weighed at home (bonus points if they’re looking deeply offended by the process). 😂

Can’t believe how well our little Animal Health Certificates are doing! Because we’re only charging £100, they’re proving really popular. We can either come to you, or you can come to our house, sit down with a cup of tea while I sort the paperwork and collect your certificate.

Check out little Ferris, who did exactly that today — absolute superstar 🌟🐾 While his owners were filling out the certificate details, Ferris went off for a little walk with my son, who was fully dressed as a pirate ready for his pirate party the next day ☠️🏴‍☠️🐶

We’re getting booked up quickly now, so if you’re planning to travel with your pet, please get booked in soon. ✈️🐶🐱

Wow… it is SO hot out there! ☀️🥵🐾

How are you all keeping your pets cool in this massive heatwave?

One of the many perks of being a mobile vet is the beautiful drives through Sussex between visits… although admittedly the air con is working overtime this week! 🚐🌳☀️

Huge thank you to lovely Libby, who very kindly let us jump in her pool during our consults today — honestly very much needed in this heat! 😂🏊‍♀️

Meanwhile these tiny little pups have absolutely mastered heatwave survival… paddling pool, ice cubes, and plenty of shade 🐶🧊💦

We’d love to see your photos! DM us or pop pictures in the comments of how your pets are staying cool this week ☀️🐾

Remember:
🐾 Plenty of fresh water
🐾 Walk early morning or late evening
🐾 Avoid hot pavements
🐾 Cooling mats, paddling pools & frozen treats are brilliant
🐾 And if in doubt, don’t risk it in this heat

Stay safe everyone! 🐕☀️

First day of the bank holiday weekend and I honestly wonder why I ever worked in practice… this way of working is just brilliant. ☀️🐾

Arthur Albert and I have been out doing lots of lovely visits today. We had a schedule that took us on an amazing route from Edenbridge down to Wadhurst, with some absolutely stunning views along the way. One of those proper Sussex/Kent countryside days where you just keep stopping to admire the scenery 🌿

Of course, we also managed to fit in a park trip and an ice cream stop 🍦😂

And the best part? We even found a dog-themed pub to suit little Peche perfectly — The Spotted Dog Pub! Safe to say we had to stop there. Amazing little find, lovely atmosphere, and another reminder of how much fun this job can be when you’re out and about meeting wonderful people and their pets.

One of the things I love most about running Sussex Home Vets is that I get to spend proper time with my son while also doing a job that genuinely doesn’t even feel like work anymore. It’s just what I do — caring for pets, chatting away in the car between visits, discovering brilliant places, and building real relationships with families and their animals.

Today was one of those days where I just thought… yep, this is exactly the life I wanted ❤️

Hope everyone’s having a wonderful bank holiday weekend!

This is darling little Roger ❤️

We don’t know exactly how old he is, but we think he’s over 10 years old. Roger was rescued from China from what is believed to have been a meat factory. Thanks to a couple of incredible rescue charities, he made the long journey via Belgium and has finally found himself in a loving home here in Sussex.

His new owners have only had him for four weeks, but they are already doing absolutely everything they can for him. Poor Roger has a multitude of medical problems, and he’s been through so many tests already. He’s on all the right medications, surrounded by love, comfort and kindness, and now we are all hoping he can begin to heal.

Despite everything he’s been through, he is the loveliest old gentleman ❤️

After what we can only assume has been a truly awful start and difficult life, let’s hope Roger can finally enjoy peace, safety and happiness in his golden years. 🐾

Please keep little Roger in your thoughts and send him all the positive wishes you can. Fingers crossed for this brave boy.

One of the benefits of being a mobile vet and working out of my truck is that I can meet you wherever suits you and your pet best, meaning their normal routine doesn’t have to be disrupted.

Vader here decided he’d quite like his appointment down at his local pub 🍻🐾 He’d been suffering with some sore ears, so we gave him a full check-over, dispensed his eardrops, and sent him happily on his way — leaving him and his mum and dad to enjoy their drink in peace.

And before anyone asks… no, I wasn’t just casually sitting in the pub after work and happened to have a client wander in 🤣 This was in fact a properly arranged appointment made by Vader’s very organised mum and dad.

Keeping veterinary visits as stress-free and convenient as possible is exactly why I set up Sussex Home Vets ❤️

Chilling at home with Cecil the Patterdale after a busy weekend out on visits. 🐾

This cheeky little chap, Arthur Albert — who most of you probably know by now — is very excited that it’s half term next week. So if we’re out and about visiting you all, please be warned… hide all motorised lawnmowers, mowing equipment, gardening tools… basically anything that isn’t made out of cardboard. 😅🚜🪚📦

I’m not entirely convinced he understands the concept of “looking, not touching” just yet! 😂

🦟 FUN FACT FRIDAY 🕷️

Did you know… a flea can jump up to 150 times its own body length? That would be like us jumping over the Eiffel Tower! 😲🐾

And ticks don’t jump or fly at all — they sit waiting on long grass with their little legs outstretched, ready to hitch a ride on passing pets (or humans!). 🌿👀

With the warmer weather arriving, now’s the perfect time to make sure your pets are protected against fleas, ticks and worms. 🐶🐱

You can book your pet’s health check and flea & worming medication easily via WhatsApp or give us a call 📱☎️

Keeping pets happy, healthy and parasite-free from the comfort of home ❤️
