Shedding season is upon us! πΎ
For guardians of the long haired double coated breeds (German shepherds, golden retrievers, collies, Newfoundland, Bernese, leonberger, Pyrenese) you may have noticed more hair around the house (I know I have)! As a dog groomer, I wanted to share some of my go-to brushes.
The Simpsons deshedding slicker brush is my favourite brush for double coated breeds ππ» It has shorter pins on one side (great for the first all over brush out) then the longer pins are brilliant for removing the old undercoat and teasing out any tangles.

Use this first, thenβ¦.
A double undercoat rake is fantastic for gently removing the loose undercoat that can sometime get stuck. They are great and will glide through the coat once it has already been brushed out (not to be used on knots as it will pull) You can buy one from Amazon for around Β£10.

Spring/early summer is a great time to deshed at home (out in the garden as there will be a lot of hair!) removing the old undercoat will allow the double coat to do its job= keeping cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
