**REUNITED**
We have had a male cockapoo handed in this morning, he was found having a lovely little run around the windy fields in Winlaton, he is microchipped but we are struggling to contact his owner, if you believe this dog is yours please give us a call on 0191 414 4233 - If not collected he will be going off with the dog warden to council kennels this afternoon. Thanks!

Hi my name is Buster and I was found running around Winlaton Front Street this morning at 10:30am. I am microchipped but we are struggling to contact my owner. Poor Eddie had a tibial fracture after falling down a hill. He had X-rays, and a Robert Jones dressing placed by us to stabilise his leg until he could have his surgery at Wear Referrals. All went well and he is now recovering at home. The nurses had lots of fun making his dressing a little less scary 🤕🩹 good boy, Eddie!

Sadly we've had a deceased male, entire cat brought in. He was found in Park Field Ryton. He is black and white with no microchip. He was wearing a collar though, as seen below. Please get in touch if you think you may know him and can help us reunite him with his family.

Yesterday, Dr. Sarah and Laurie RVN visited Durham High School to take part in their careers fair, giving students an insight into what it’s really like to work as a Vet.

The students had the chance to get hands-on with some practical activities, including bandaging, suturing, and even trying out some microscopy.

It was fantastic to see so much enthusiasm from the young people there – we may even have met a few future Vets and Vet Nurses in the making! 🐾

Tiny paws, big bravery 🐾💉
Recently Honey came in for her second vaccine visit and was the sweetest little champ! A few curious sniffs, a gentle poke, and lots of tail wags later, she’s one step closer to a strong, healthy future. Extra cuddles and treats are definitely on the schedule for this cutie 🥰🐶🍯

What better way to welcome the weekend than with a Sore Paws success story!

Meet Buddy, our 1-year-10-month-old Golden Retriever patient :dog: Born with swimmers syndrome, we thought he’d never walk. But his owner’s physio sessions helped him defy the odds and surprise us all.

A few weeks ago, Buddy arrived with a fever, lethargy, low white blood cells, and nausea. He then developed intussusception, where his intestines telescoped, requiring surgery to remove part of his bowel.

Recovering from the illness and surgery was hard; he was incredibly poorly, losing weight, and hadn’t eaten in days. We reached the point of discussing euthanasia, but the team couldn’t give up. With one last push and intense nursing from the staff, Buddy pulled through at the 11th hour!

Today, he came in for his vaccine, 5kg heavier, tail wagging, and greeting everyone. It’s clear Buddy appreciated the care at Sore Paws.
We’re proud of our miracle patient and the team effort that made it possible!

Once your hair grows back, Buddy, nobody will ever know how close you came to not being here 🤫 Well done Buddy 👏
