This Saturday 7th is our Hampden Park Walk you may have heard that that some dogs have fallen ill while walking in the park
On Monday I went to two of the biggest vets in Eastbourne st Anne's and Eastbourne vets for their opinion about our walk this Saturday and the advice I was given don't let your dogs drink from puddles which could be contaminated by rats urine keep dogs on leads and keep to the paths and make sure your hounds are up to date with their noculations
With that said meet opposite the cafe at 1.45pm and walk off at 2pm Please bring water and treats hope to see you all then mick

After 48 wonderful years of keeping our doors open, rehoming racing greyhounds and matching them with loving families, Brighton Retired Greyhound Trust has now closed its doors.

Since our beginnings, we have had the privilege of helping hundreds of incredible dogs - many of whom raced at Brighton & Hove Stadium - go on to enjoy the retired lives they truly deserved.

We want to say a heartfelt thank you to every single person who opened their heart and their home to one of our greyhounds. We hope they have filled your lives with as much love, loyalty and companionship as they brought to ours.

Thank you as well to everyone who has supported us over the years. Whether you adopted, volunteered, donated or simply followed and shared our journey, we wouldn't have made it this far without you.

So, it's farewell from us.

With gratitude,
Brighton Retired Greyhound Trust 💚

🐾 Last Chance for Best – Let’s Find Him His Forever Home 🐾
As the kennels at Brighton Retired Greyhound Trust prepare to close, Best is our final dog still waiting for a home. We would love nothing more than to see him start his new chapter in a loving family before Wednesday 25th February.

Best is a 6-year-old male who has been with us since March 2024. He’s a big, friendly boy who absolutely thrives on human attention and is always happy to say hello. Full of character and affection, Best loves being around people and getting involved in whatever’s going on — he simply wants to be part of the action.

Best is looking for an experienced and confident greyhound home. He can be strong on the lead and a little pushy at times, so he’ll need clear boundaries and a firm but kind handler to help guide him. His manners are still a work in progress, but with consistency and patience, he has so much love and loyalty to give.
Best will need to be the only dog in the home and cannot live with children. However, in the right adult-only home, he will be a devoted and loving companion who gives back as much as he receives.

If nobody comes forward before Wednesday 25th February, Best will be heading to Retired Greyhound Trust Horley to continue his search for a forever home.
We would so love to see him settled before he has to move on again. Please share far and wide — let’s find Best the home he truly deserves. ❤️🐾

💔 TWO GREYHOUNDS. ONE LAST CHANCE. 💔

As Brighton Retired Greyhound Trust prepares to close its kennels, our hearts are heavy knowing we still have two beautiful greyhounds waiting for their forever homes.

🐾 Best & Nelson 🐾

These lovely boys have done nothing but wait patiently — trusting that their people will come.
They don’t understand why the kennels are getting quieter.
They don’t know why bags are being packed.
They only know they are still waiting… 💔

We truly believe there is a sofa, a home and a family out there for each of them — but we need your help to find it.
🙏 Please share this post
🙏 Please tell your friends
🙏 Please help us reach that one person who has room in their heart and home

Best and Nelson would be happiest in calm, adult-only homes where they can enjoy the quieter side of life. They would need to be the only dog in the home and would really benefit from greyhound-experienced owners who understand their ways and can help them settle into retirement.

📞 To find out more about Best or Nelson, please call the kennels on 07704 982140.
Please help us make sure their story ends with love, comfort and a sofa to call their own 🛋️❤️🐾
