Our Story
My name is Sian Lucas
I started Paws 1st Pet Services in July 2016. I have been extremely fortunate to turn my love and passion for animals into my full time job. I have a dog called Millie (a springer spaniel) and a cat called Princess, both are my absolute world!
My experience
I started out by volunteering for local dog rescues, going most mornings before work to walk the dogs that was there. I absolutely loved doing this and it was amazing to see the dogs grow in confidence and eventually be re homed. There I got chance to handle a variety of different breeds, temperaments, sizes and personalities.
I then got in contact with a local dog trainer and he let me go and help him out at his farm. This was the most incredible opportunity anybody could have had starting out working with dogs and I was lucky enough that it was me! This was definitely the start of my career working with dogs. I got the chance to sit in on his classes and one to one lessons to watch and to help out when needed. I got so much hands on experience which is the most important thing you can get when working with dogs. From house pets to gun dogs I got to work with them all! I will be forever grateful to him as I would not be where I am today without that one opportunity!
My Training
To go with all of my hands on experience I have I have done multiple courses with the IMDT (Institute Of Modern Dog Trainers).
These were;
2 Day Career As A Dog Trainer.
Loose Leaders.
1 Day Perfect Puppy.
4 Day Practical Instructors Course.
And
2 Day Membership Assessment.
From this I went on to set up my own classes and one to one training sessions. I ran puppy classes at the local vets and started up my dog walking business. I absolutely love all of the training side to my business. It is so rewarding watching the dogs learn and pick up new things.
The Future Of Paws 1st Pet Services
My dog walking business has gone from strength to strength since 2016 and I still cannot believe I have made my dream job happen!
I absolutely love every single pet that I have looked after, both last and present, and I look forward to seeing what other fur babies I get to look after and love next!
I also have lots of new and exciting things happening for the future Paws 1st Pet Services and I cant wait to share this journey with you all.
