Safe & Hound Secure Field Safe & Hound is a 6 acre secure field set on the outskirts of Turners Hill. The field is enclosed with 6’ high deer fencing, with parking inside the field.

Bookings are available in 30 minutes or 1 hour time slots between 6am-9pm Mon-Sun.

As some of you may have seen, I made a post on another dog related page, that there was an incident in my field this past Tuesday. I have spoken to the owner now, and I feel it was serious enough to make others aware.

A local dog walker/pet care business left a dog in the field, for the second time!
The first time it was their own dog, this time, a clients dog.
This is classed as negligence.

Their reason for this, the cage door fell, the dog got spooked and ran. The persons phone rang. They answered the call, forgot about the dog and left.
This is totally unacceptable.

They didn’t notice until, I assume, arrived to drop the dog home. On arrival back to the field (40mins later) they seemed annoyed at the situation rather than worried, in my personal opinion.

Once the dog was collected they walked out of the secure field to their van WITHOUT putting the dog on a lead, I couldn’t quite believe it to be honest!
The same thing happened to the door of the cage, but thankfully the dog stayed with the person, but could have easily run out towards the road!

My field is not only used by dog walkers, but also by people, like myself, who have reactive/aggressive dogs. It makes me feel sick to think about what could have happened should a reactive dog have entered the field unknowingly 😢

I do urge everyone to do their research, if you’re are looking for pet care or a dog walker. Please check who you’re asking, ask to see insurance details, question things if you’re not sure, a dog walker in Mid Sussex is allowed a maximum of 6 dogs, this is no different in my secure field.

The person in question will no longer be using my field, as I will not be associated with a business who clearly has no regard for the safety of the animals in their care.

I have left the name of the person/business out, because I’m not looking to start a witch hunt, but if you are worried it could be your walker, please do private message me, as I’m more than happy to put your mind at ease where possible.

🔔 PICK UP YOUR DOGS 💩
please do clean up after your dog. It is your responsibility when using the field, there is a bin in the field, see pic, so please use it…don’t be that person who thinks it doesn’t apply to them!

🔔 WAITING AREA
Should you arrive at the field and it’s still in use, please wait in the lay-by next to the first gate, see pic, do not 🛑 drive through to the field gate as it’s really unfair to the people using the field, especially if they have reactive dogs.

🔔 ARRIVAL TIME
Please try to arrive as close to your start time as possible, to save waiting around, or rushing the people before you to leave before their time is up.

🔔 RUBBISH
Please use the bin provided for any rubbish (ie wrappers not emptying a car load) and if you do smoke while using the field, please make sure the cigarette is extinguished fully and put in the bin….I’m coming across more and more being left in the field.

There is quite a cost in having the bin emptied and disposed of correctly, so while the odd little choccie wrapper here and there is fine, wine bottles are not 🍾

🚨🚨EMERGENCY ROAD CLOSURE 🚨🚨

Unfortunately Selsfield Road between Taranas and the cross roads in Turners Hill has been shut due to emergency electrical works. No diversion signs in place. If coming from Ardingly/Lindfield/HH you will need to go via Vowels lane.

Good Morning all,

Next week between Monday 25/11 through to Friday 29/11 the road is closed between Mount Lane (The Ark/playground area) and the Turners Hill Junction which I’m assuming is by The Crown/crossroads.

Access to the field if coming from that direction will be via Vowels Lane, which will add around 10 minutes to your journey.

Access from EG way is fine.

Apparently you can get through if walking from Turners Hill.

If you have a booking made and would prefer to reschedule, please send me a message and I can do that for you.
