The sun is out and that means adders will be more active, resulting in dog bites.
Strategies to avoid adders this year:
🐍Avoid walking your dog in known adder habitats like the ‘Ashdown Forest’ between 11AM-5PM (peak times for adder basking/activity).
🐍If you walk your dog in adder risk areas keep it on a short lead on paths at all times.
🐍Don’t let it explore the undergrowth.
🐍Put a bell on your dogs collar to create a noise for the adder to hear it coming.

🧪 Fertilizers & Plant Food: Great for plants, dangerous for pets — they can cause vomiting and stomach pain.
🌱 Weedkillers & Pesticides: Freshly treated areas can harm curious sniffers — keep pets away until dry.
🌸 Bulbs & Plants: Daffodils, tulips, and hyacinths can cause serious stomach upset if chewed.
🌰 Cocoa Mulch: A type of garden mulch made from cocoa bean shells — it smells like chocolate, but it’s just as toxic. If eaten, it can cause vomiting, tremors, and seizures in cats and dogs.
🛠️ Shed Hazards: Antifreeze, paints, and cleaning products should always be stored securely out of reach.

🦷Lucian the Husky with a sore 🦷

Lucian is a very frisky, bouncy Siberian Husky that presented to us for his free 6 month old dog adolescent check.

He had a rare problem of having a retained canine tooth but it had severely displaced his adult tooth coming through into the roof of his mouth.

Thanks one of our vets removed the baby tooth and put him on special ‘Ball and Rope Therapy’ which moved the adult tooth while it is still possible into a normal position:)

Thankfully this meant he didnt need braces!😬

With Easter around the corner, those chocolate eggs and bunnies are popping up everywhere! But chocolate contains theobromine, which is toxic to cats and dogs — and dark chocolate is the most dangerous. Even small amounts can lead to tremors, seizures, and heart problems.

Tip: If you suspect your pet’s eaten something they shouldn’t, call your vet immediately! Don’t wait for symptoms — early action saves lives.
