🐾 Every confident dog starts as a puppy.

Looking back at this little video of India reminds me that confidence, focus and good manners don’t happen overnight—they’re built through patience, consistency and training.

It’s one of the reasons I love supporting owners beyond puppy class. Watching dogs grow and develop into happy, confident companions is the best part of my job.

If your puppy has finished their first course and you’re wondering what’s next, my Next Steps course starts this September. Alongside building everyday life skills, we’ll also introduce fun gundog-inspired games that strengthen focus, teamwork and engagement.

🌟 Become a Dog Trainer for the Day is a fun, hands-on workshop where children will work with their own dog while learning real training skills from a qualified trainer.

Our weekly sessions with India, our therapy dog in training, are designed to help children build confidence through calm, positive interactions with dogs.

Every session is relaxed, engaging and tailored to each child, with activities that encourage:

It’s not lead walking.
It’s not even biting.

The biggest mistake is waiting until there’s a problem before starting training.

The first few months shape your puppy’s confidence, resilience and ability to cope with the world around them. Good training isn’t about teaching tricks—it’s about preventing problems before they start.

A few things I focus on with every puppy:
🐾 Calmness before excitement.
🐾 Building confidence, not just obedience.
🐾 Teaching owners how to understand their puppy.
🐾 Real-life skills that make everyday life easier.

Welcome to adolescence!

Between 6 months and 18 months, many dogs seem to lose their listening ears. Recall becomes unreliable, lead pulling starts, excitement takes over, and distractions become far more interesting than you.

The good news? It’s completely normal—and it’s the perfect time to continue their training.

Some sessions are about learning… and some are about simply feeling safe. 🤍

This morning, India spent time doing what she does best – offering calm, comfort and connection.

There were smiles, cuddles, games, quiet moments and lots of gentle interaction. Sometimes the biggest achievements aren’t spoken; they’re seen in a relaxed body, a smile, a giggle, or the confidence to reach out for a cuddle.

Watching India melt into belly rubs with her famous goofy grin never fails to make everyone around her smile too! 🥹🐾

These moments are why therapy dogs are so special. They don’t judge, they don’t rush, and they meet every child exactly where they are.

So proud of my girl. 💙
