Our most popular once-a-year event is back! Join us at Woodford Riding Stables for a magical summer evening on horseback.
Enjoy a 2-hour walk/trot or walk/trot/canter hack through stunning countryside, then return to the yard to relax with Indian tapas and drinks in the evening sun.

Starting tomorrow, Saturday 2nd August, Wodehouse Lane will remain closed, and Himley Road (past Himley Hall due to an event) will also be closed between 12pm and 12am.

This means Woodford Riding Stables will only be accessible via:

🌟 2-Day Training Camp Highlights! 🌟

What a fantastic couple of days we’ve had at Woodford Riding Stables with our amazing riders!

🦄 Thursday was packed with learning and fun:

We started the day with a flatwork lesson focused on balance and feeling the horse’s movement 🐎
In the afternoon, riders took on an exciting jump lesson, showing real improvement and confidence!
In between, we got stuck into tack fitting, lunging practice, and some brilliant plaiting practice to get ready for Show Day at the end of the holidays 🎀
We ended the day with a relaxing and fun “have a go” rider Pilates taster session 🧘‍♀️

☀️ Friday brought glorious sunshine and even more fun:

We set off on a long countryside hack, taking us down into Seisdon and back to Trysull through the beautiful woods – such a lovely ride!
After rinsing off and turning out the ponies, we enjoyed a well-earned BBQ lunch 🍔🌭
The afternoon was filled with laughter during a Hobby Horse Gymkhana tournament and a lively Hobby Horse Chase Me Charlie
We finished the day by giving our much-loved mini Shetlands, Harry and Penelope, a refreshing bath to cool off 🐴💦

A huge well done to all our riders – your enthusiasm, effort, and team spirit were amazing. We’re so proud of you and can’t wait for more summer adventures 💙

Early mornings, happy horses! ☀️🐴
Our afternoon tea ride turned into a beautiful early morning breakfast ride to beat the heat — and what a great call that was! Huge thanks to the lovely ladies for getting in bright and early so we could enjoy the ride and get the horses home before the sun really kicked in. 💛🌾

We’ve had a few questions about why we’ve chosen shady hacking routes lately instead of our usual fast-paced lessons — and we’d like to explain.

With the unusually high temperatures during this heatwave, we’ve made a conscious decision to prioritise the health and comfort of our horses and ponies. Shady hacks offer a cooler, calmer environment — a far better alternative to intense riding sessions or canceling altogether.

But these rides are far from unproductive. While out hacking, our young riders are learning vital road safety skills, practicing communication, and working together to keep the whole ride safe. We also incorporate valuable mounted drills — standing in stirrups, identifying parts of the tack, and building balance and awareness — all essential components of good horsemanship.

Horse welfare — and teaching that to the next generation of riders — will always be our highest priority. We’re proud to raise riders who understand that caring for horses goes far beyond riding fast or jumping high.

☀️ Hot Weather Weekend Update at Woodford Riding Stables ☀️

With hot weather forecast this weekend, we’ll be making a few adjustments to ensure the comfort and safety of both our riders and our horses 🐴💦

Here’s what you need to know:

🌳 We’ll be making the most of our lovely shady hacking routes
🐌 Rides will be taken at slower paces – there's still plenty to learn at a walk!
🔁 Horses will be alternated regularly to give them proper breaks
💧 Extra water breaks will be provided for horses – this may mean some slight delays to lesson times
🧃 Cold squash will be available after sessions for the kids to cool down
👖 Please wear long trousers and suitable riding footwear for riding
🧴 Don’t forget your suncream and stay hydrated!
🩳Volunteers may wear shorts and suitable footwear

🐎 The welfare of our horses is our top priority, so we’ll be making decisions throughout the day based on the weather. If it gets too hot for safe riding, we may switch to fun and educational hands-on horse/pony care sessions in the shade – learning how to bathe and care for ponies in warm weather.

Who knew that little Faith, who started riding at Woodford Riding Stables in Wombourne (mainly to boss ponies around), would end up playing for the U16 Team GB Horseball squad at the European Championships?! 🐴🇬🇧 From starting her Equine journey with Woodford she is now galloping after glory—this girl is on a mission to make her dream come true! If every one of my lovely friends donated just £1, we’d be halfway to getting her (and probably a suitcase full of snacks) to France!
