We’re always trying to move the business forward & today I attended the Pro Training Canine First Aid course run by Jo as we start thinking of the next step for Kilters Hounds.

I would 💯 recommend this course as both a dog and business owner - it covered all aspects of first aid and practical application.

We’re planning on running this course at the farm in the near future - if you would be interested pop us a thumbs up in the comment section below👇

As always we will provide homemade bakes as we believe learning happens best when accompanied by cake!

UPDATE: Temporary Water Pressure Issue at the Field as been FIXED 🙌

We’ve noticed reduced water pressure at the taps in the dog field this morning. At 5am, South West Water updated their website with the following:

"Due to a burst main on our network, some customers in your area may experience lower water pressure than usual or a loss of supply while we undertake emergency repairs."

As the field sits at one of the highest points locally, there is a possibility the water supply may drop or stop temporarily. If you’re visiting today, we recommend bringing some water with you for your dogs, just in case.

We’re hopeful the issue will be resolved quickly

We've learnt about some technical issues with the automated reminders that normally get sent to clients 2 hours before their appointment containing the code to access the dog field. We're working hard to get this fixed but if anyone has any issues accessing the field please get in touch with us by responding to this message or contacting us using the phone number listed on our website.

Clients can still book and will receive their booking confirmations as normal.

We'll get this sorted soon - Thanks for your patience.

🌿 Big kit. Big plans. Big year ahead at Kilters Hounds. 🐾

Last week we got the heavy-duty hedge cutting machinery in to tidy up the farm boundaries and smarten the dog field. It might not be glamorous… but it’s all part of keeping your favourite zoomie space in top condition.

And this is just the beginning.

Everything we do is reinvested straight back into the field — improving the space, extending usability, and making sure it stays safe, secure and enjoyable all year round.

Here’s what’s coming up…

🌱 March
• First grass cut of the year (as soon as the ground dries out a little!)
• Filling in a few “enthusiastic landscaping projects” courtesy of some very dedicated diggers
• Gradually extending opening hours as the evenings get lighter

🌳 April
• Reseeding thinner patches to keep things lush and paw-friendly
• Planting clusters of new trees (future shade for summer zoomies 🌞)
• Fresh new signage arriving

🌦 May
• Paving slabs around the waste bins to make wet weather cleaner and easier
• A rethink of the dog wash area — including a proper concrete base and drainage/soakaway to make muddy paws far less dramatic

We’re excited about what’s ahead and we’ll share updates as each stage progresses.
If you haven’t visited in a while, spring is a great time to come back and see the improvements taking shape. And if you’re one of our regulars — thank you. Your bookings are what make all of this possible.

🌬️ Storm Goretti has passed and we’re pleased to say Kilters Hounds has come through relatively unscathed 🌱
We’ve fully checked the fencing and field, and we’re back open for business. The ground is a little wet in places after the weather, so please wear suitable footwear when visiting. There are also a few natural holes in the field that could cause injury if unexpectedly stepping into them — we’d be grateful if dogs aren’t allowed to dig so we can keep the space safe and in great condition for everyone.

As a reminder, we’ve had a couple of reports of poo being left behind. Our Terms & Conditions (which all users sign up to) are very clear that owners must pick up after their dogs and use the bins provided. This helps us keep the field clean, safe, and enjoyable for all our visitors 🐾

With the days starting to lengthen, we’re really looking forward to welcoming you and your dogs back out for some fresh air and stress-free exercise.
