☀️ HOT WEATHER TOP TIPS FOR YOUR DOG ☀️

With the warmer weather finally here, it’s important to help keep your furry pals cool, comfortable & safe between grooms 🐶💦

Here are some easy things you can do at home:

🐾 Brush regularly
Removing loose fur helps air circulate through the coat and stops matting, which can trap heat.

💧 Keep fresh water available
Pop a few ice cubes in the bowl for an extra cool treat.

🧊 Cooling mats & damp towels
Perfect for helping dogs chill out after walks or garden playtime.

🌳 Walk during cooler hours
Early mornings or later evenings are safest for little paws and fluffy coats.

✂️ Keep on top of hygiene areas
A tidy trim around paw pads, belly and sanitary areas can help your dog stay cleaner and cooler.

🚫 Never shave double-coated breeds
Their coat actually helps regulate temperature and protects their skin from the sun.

🍦 Frozen treats
Dog-safe frozen snacks like banana, watermelon or frozen yoghurt can be a lifesaver in the heat.

Meet Diego, a Romanian Shepherd mix and registered therapy dog… although judging by the side-eyes he was giving us all appointment, I’m fairly certain he was silently reviewing our life choices 😂

In all seriousness though, he was the gentlest soul ever 🐾
He came in for a big deshed to help keep him comfy during this mini heatwave we’ve been having, and he was an absolute star from start to finish!

Look at that face though… pure “I expected better from all of you.” 😭

Young pup Akira the American Akita came in for her puppy groom today at just 6 months old 🐶✨

How beautiful is she?! Those fluffy cuddles and big puppy paws absolutely melted us 💛

We had the pleasure of grooming Alfie the Border Collie… or as we now know him, “Captain Floof”

We’re fairly certain we removed enough fur to knit a second Alfie. At one point the hoover filed for emotional support.

Despite arriving with approximately 97% floof and 3% actual dog, Alfie was an absolute superstar and left looking very handsome, very proud, and at least 4kg lighter.

Somewhere out there, local birds are building luxury apartments with what came off him 🐑✨

Some wear Batman masks and fart during their blow-dry. 🦇💨

Louie the Frenchie popped in for his Bath, Blow-Dry & Deshed today and took his duties very seriously. By “duties” we mean licking everything, demanding snacks, and shedding enough fur to build a second Frenchie.

Citizens are advised not to be alarmed if they see a tiny snorting superhero speeding through town smelling faintly of blueberry shampoo and justice.

Gotham is safe.

We welcomed Charlie the Bernese Mountain Dog for his VERY FIRST groom… and respectfully, we’d just like to ask what exactly they’re feeding this lad 😭

He’s only 9 months old and already the size of a small horse.

Charlie was an absolute sweetheart though, even if his paws are roughly the same size as dinner plates. He took his first groom like a champ, enjoyed all the fuss, and left looking extra fluffy, handsome, and approximately 17% more enormous.

We can’t wait to watch him grow… although at this rate we may need to knock through a wall before his next appointment 🐾

☀️🐾 Warmer Weather & Double-Coated Dogs - Let’s Talk! 🐾☀️

As the temperatures start to rise, we’re getting asked a lot about shaving double-coated dogs to help them stay cool. It might seem like the obvious solution… but in most cases, it actually does more harm than good.

Double coats (like those on Huskies, Golden Retrievers, German Shepherds, and Border Collies) are cleverly designed by nature. That fluffy undercoat works like insulation - keeping your dog warm in winter and cool in summer by regulating their body temperature.

✂️ Why you shouldn’t shave a double coat:
• It can disrupt your dog’s natural temperature control
• It may lead to overheating rather than preventing it
• The coat can grow back uneven, patchy, or damaged
• It increases the risk of sunburn and skin irritation
• In some cases, the coat may not grow back properly at all

✨ So what does help? A good deshed!

A professional deshedding treatment removes all that loose, dead undercoat that traps heat and blocks airflow. Think of it like giving your dog’s coat room to “breathe” again.

🛁 Benefits of deshedding:
• Helps your dog stay cooler and more comfortable
• Improves air circulation through the coat

We just wanted to hit pause on the paw-some chaos for a second 🐾✨ and say the biggest THANK YOU to all of you!

Seriously… the support, the love, the recommendations… it means more than a freshly groomed floof strutting out like they own the place 💅🐶

Every recommendation, every message, every lovely comment you send our way honestly makes our day (and sometimes has us doing a little happy dance in the salon 💃🐾). It still feels a bit surreal that so many of you trust us with your gorgeous pups.
