Just a reminder that we offer both in-house and external post mortem services for those 'unexplained dead sheep' cases you find in the field!

Post mortems are incredibly valuable for ruling diseases in or out on your farm, and enabling us to plan better for the future.

The farm vets are celebrating Great British Beef Week by cooking up a storm in the kitchen!

Bex has been making some smokey BBQ beef tacos, and Katie G's house will be enjoying a beautifully cooked lasagne courtesy of her daughter tonight!

We are proud to support our farmers in their production of delicious British beef 😋

🐖🐄 Veterinary Receptionist Appreciation Week! 🐑🐐

Although unseen by many of you- Debbie is well and truly the glue holding us together as a team!

Whether she's answering phone calls, sorting out the diary, booking TB tests or cleaning poo off of blood tubes (sorry Debbie!!!) she's an absolute star and we would all go awry without her!

So a massive thank you to Debbie from us all 🤍

Bex had a real Blue Peter ‘and here’s one I prepared earlier’ moment this week when alongside a lambing came her c-section from 2 weeks ago!

Both ewes had big lambs that were coming backwards, so both required a side door exit. Both mums and babies are doing well and are enjoying the sunshine this week!

⚠️ NEMATODIRUS RISK ⚠️

We are currently experiencing high risk and peak hatching close by!

NOT ALL LAMBS WILL REQUIRE TREATMENT, and risk on farm should be assessed (age, pasture risk, altitude of fields, other challenges).

The SCOPS website is very informative and will help you to risk assess your farm: https://www.scops.org.uk/internal-parasites/worms/nematodirus-in-lambs/

The current hatching forecast can be found here: https://www.scops.org.uk/forecasts/nematodirus-forecast/

Defra has launched a new public consultation. It covers whether to make the animal health and welfare review mandatory, and asks for views on eradication schemes for BVD and PRRS (a disease in pigs).

The consultation is open now and runs till 18th May. All opinions are welcomed, Nikki is obviously off to offer her support for a BVD eradication scheme now!

The link to access it is here:
