Aquatics South West is looking to recruit a full time maintenance operative to join our small, personable team, specialising in the restoration of ponds, lakes and waterways.

Responsibilities within the role, include:
- Assisting in the creation, management and restoration of aquatic habitats
- Assisting in the construction of natural swimming pools
- Conducting routine, physical land and water-based maintenance tasks
- Operating machinery and plant, including our amphibious Truxor (training will be provided)
- Developing an understanding of aquatic systems, to assist in delivering effective management solutions

We are looking for someone with an interest in the natural world and the desire and ability to work outside, in all weathers.

We operate nationwide, therefore travel, overtime and overnight stays will be required.

Pay: £24,500 - £27,500 per annum

A 6 acre reed clearance in Peterborough we undertook a few weeks ago.

Without cutting, the reed beds would eventually dry up and become scrubland. The cutting allows for water movement and creates a better breeding ground for wetland wildlife, including migratory and resident birds.

Aquatics South West are looking to recruit a full time maintenance operative to assist in all aspects of Aquatic Management.

This will include:
Pond and Lake restorations.
Dredging.
Vegetation management and control.
Landscaping and habitat creation, amongst others.

The role involves hands on management working as well as the use of various plant machinery and equipment.

Work is undertaken in all weathers.

Applicants must be reliable, punctual and have a keen interest in aquatics.
Normal working hours will be Monday to Friday.

Applicants will ideally have a
• A good knowledge of fish keeping and husbandry.
• A good understanding of water quality management.
• Problem identification and an understanding of fish health.
• Good liaison skills with staff and customers.
• A current UK driving licence.
• Not be afraid to get your hands dirty.
• Be prepared to work away from home on occasions where required.
• Be prepared to partake in compulsory paid overtime.
