🎓 Puppy & Adolescent Class Graduates! 🐾⁠

We’ve just wrapped up another fantastic round of Sat morning training classes — and what an amazing bunch they’ve been! 💫

From rock-solid sits to brilliant emergency stops during our end-of-course challenges, these pups have truly smashed it! 👏 We’ll miss seeing them brighten up our Saturday mornings. 💛

Our Intermediate group also made big strides — quite literally — as they went from hesitant to flying through the tunnel with confidence! 🌟 It's always so rewarding to see that transformation.

☀️🐶 HEATWAVE SAFETY TIPS FOR DOGS 🐾💦

Summer is a fun time for outdoor adventures, but remember, dogs don’t handle heat the same way we do — they rely on panting to cool down, which isn't always enough in extreme temperatures. Here’s how to keep your pup safe, healthy, and happy during a heatwave:

🌅 1. Adjust Walk Times:
Avoid walking your dog during the hottest parts of the day (typically 11 AM–4 PM). Aim for early morning or after sunset when the ground and air are cooler.

🔥 2. Check the Pavement:
Do the 5-second test — if you can't hold your hand on the pavement comfortably for 5 seconds, it’s too hot for your dog’s paws. Opt for grassy areas.

💧 3. Hydration is Everything:
Always keep clean, cool water available — inside and outside. Carry a collapsible bowl and water bottle when you’re on the go.

🌳 4. Shade & Ventilation:
Provide access to shaded areas or a well-ventilated room indoors. Never leave a dog in a parked car, even with the windows cracked. It can turn deadly in minutes.

🧊 5. Cooling Aids Work Wonders:
Cooling mats, frozen treats (like ice cubes with peanut butter or broth), damp towels, and dog-safe cooling vests or bandanas can all help regulate their body temp. Just remember to keep them topped up!

🐾 6. Know the Signs of Heatstroke:
Look out for excessive panting, drooling, weakness, confusion, vomiting, or bright red gums. If you notice any of these, get your dog to a vet immediately.

💕 Bonus Tip:
Keep playtime short and supervised. Even the most energetic dogs don’t know when to stop!

A fantastic final week of the Bronze UK Sniffer Dog course today — they all smashed the mock trial! 🐾💪

Such a lovely group of dogs and humans, I’ll really miss our Friday mornings together… though I’ll still see some of you in the Monday continuation class! 😁

Had my little human helper with me today too — starting him young! 🤣

🌟 If you’ve been thinking about joining one of my scent detection courses, keep an eye on the website — new dates for upcoming Bronze and continuation classes will be added on the website!

📅 I’m also hoping to host a trial this summer, so watch this space!

Kicked off vehicle searches today in our Bronze course—and these dogs absolutely smashed it!

Just look at how focused and thorough their searches were. Every single one of them gave it their all and performed brilliantly.

Special shoutout to little Herbie—he might be small, but he gave 110% for the full hour! Still just a pup, and already showing that Scentwork is for dogs of any age.

One very proud trainer here!

Puppy Play Socials in Tongham – What an evening!

We had an amazing time at our Puppy Play Social in Tongham! So many happy pups came together for an evening full of fun, play, and exploring.

There were tail wags, zoomies, new friendships (both human and canine!), and plenty of opportunities to chat and ask questions.

Thank you to everyone who came along — your pups were absolute stars, and we loved seeing them grow in confidence and enjoy every minute!

Keep an eye out for our next session — we can’t wait to do it all again!

It was week 1 and all the dogs did so well! We were nice and cool in the hall with lots of water breaks as it is hot today!

☀️🐾 Hot Weather = Extra Care for Our Pups! 🐾☀️

As the temperatures rise, don’t forget that our dogs feel the heat even more than we do! 🥵🐶

✅ Walk early in the morning or later in the evening
✅ Always check the pavement with your hand — if it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for them!
✅ Keep fresh water available at all times
✅ Provide plenty of shade and cool resting spots
✅ Never leave your dog in a parked car — even for a minute

🐶 Easter Safety Alert for Puppy Parents!

I want to make sure you and your pup have a safe & happy Easter!

Common Easter treats like:
🍫 chocolate
🍇 hot cross buns (raisins)
🍬 sugar-free sweets (xylitol)..can all be toxic to dogs – even in small amounts.

Here’s how to keep your puppy safe:

Keep treats up high & out of reach 🙈

Watch little ones – kids love to share, but puppies can't have these snacks 🚫

Remind guests not to sneak food to your pup (no matter how cute the puppy eyes!)

If your pup gets hold of something they shouldn’t:
🚨 Call your vet
📝 Note what & how much was eaten
📦 Bring the wrapper if you have it – super helpful for the vet
