🌾⚠️ Small but mighty (and not in a good way) ⚠️🌾

Grass seed injuries are soaring this summer, and our team has been busy removing them from ears, paws, noses, and yes, even bottoms. We've even treated two dogs from the same family in the same month!

Here's what you need to know:
➡️ Once in, they only travel in One Direction (yes, really 🎵)
➡️ They have serious tunnel vision and will not work their way back out
➡️ Left to their own devices? They persist, and the problem gets worse

Our top tip: Make checking your dog part of your post-walk routine. Focus on between the toes, around the ears and anywhere fluffy.

If your dog seems uncomfortable or you think something doesn't look right, don't wait. Contact your local Pennard branch straight away, and we'll help catch it early. ✅

🐾⚠️ A heads-up for all our Tonbridge friends 🐾⚠️

Blue-green algae has been confirmed in local waterways in the Tonbridge area. Please keep your pets away from the River Medway and any affected water until further notice.

Blue-green algae is highly toxic to dogs and can be life-threatening very quickly. If your pet has come into contact with affected water and seems unwell, please don't wait and get in touch with us straight away.

We're sharing the council's update below. Please do share this to help spread the word to other local pet owners.

⚠️ Warning!

We have Blue green algae at Haysden Water lake in Haysden Country Park and now have indications that this is also now blooming at Barden Lake. Bloom and scum forming blue-green algae can produce toxins harmful in humans and to dogs.

Our water users have been advised and signage reminders have been put up.

The algae are actually a naturally occurring species and bloom most years in the park.

⚠️ It is poisonous to animals and can cause severe illness and death

🐕‍🦺 Please do not let your dog in the water.
