Everyday is a learning day📚🤓 The grass we cut last night has been inspected and turned twice. When the weather is as hot and windy as it is, it feels like a hot hairdryer blowing over the farm. We have to keep a really close eye on the grass as it can go from haylage to hay just like that. So far so good😅

We'll keep you updated so you can see what happens from cutting to wrapping😁

Well it would appear that we have started haylage season 2026😅 I'm just going to carry on eating my tea in the garden and be in ignorant bliss for a few more hours😆
This is the first of our ryegrass fields to be cut🚜 It's a good one to start in as it's really close to the haylage barn where we wrap the bales and if there are teething problems with the machinery the workshop is next door🤪

Wishing our equestrian team of Anouk, Rebecca, Freya, Isla and Jessie, supported by Annabelle the best of luck at Hickstead National Schools Championships this weekend. Horses and humans stay overnight at Hickstead and compete this Saturday in West Sussex…please wish them luck if you see them at school this week.

⛑️An excellent, in depth & practical First Aid refresher course for our team, delivered by Craig from Event Paramedic Services. A day that provoked some really good discussions and made us all sit back and think about keeping ourselves safe in the farming environment. If (let's hope not) accidents or illnesses do occur, we're equipped and refreshed on what to do in an emergency⛑️

We all had a weekend off and what glorious weather we had for it. John went away to see friends and family and Nick, Liz, Henry & Imogen filled theirs with rugby, gardening, tea in the garden & sunday lunch by the sea. It felt good to press that reset button before our crazy season begins😅

It feels so good to finally be getting our natural vitamin D & feeling the sun on our faces. We've heard people already wishing for another heatwave, and as lovely as it is to be off to watch Henry's rugby match without an umbrella and clean footwear, we are praying for rain🙏

Isn't that just ridiculous?!🤣

We spent all summer pleading for rain, all winter begging for the rain to stop and now we need it back!

Our farming business and farming life relies entirely on the weather. No rain means no healthy, nutritional long grass. When the grass gets stressed, we get stressed😥

Positive vibes and rain dances☔️💃
