Met a new breed today, one that I had never even heard of let alone walked. The Dandie Dinmont is a Scottish terrier breed with long hair, longer body and teeny tiny legs!

Fingers crossed Windy is right! Yesterday was the first day in weeks that I haven’t been rained on! 🐾🐶🤧🤞🏻☀️

Windy says for many (not all) Wednesday Thursday Friday look to be 3 pretty decent days, relatively speaking . . . considering what we’ve had over the last few weeks

We’ve still got some cloud and drizzle for SOUTHERN Scotland. With PARTS of the WEST, especially the NORTH WEST seeing some heavy showers . . . Thundery at times

The bit inbetween though, should stay dry and bright

"My dog needs to socialise", I hear this a lot regarding reactive dogs.
Why is always my answer.
I see dogs being muzzled and taken out on "pack walks" sporting shocks and all manner of tools to punish unwanted behaviour.
I can't help but think how that dog must feel. Faced with their biggest fear/nemesis in abundance, unable to leave, unable to react, unable to say "stop". This is where we see shutdown behaviour. Just because the dog has ceased the behaviour doesn't mean it's happy.
For dogs like this I always suggest removing the stress, for at least a period and let the dog settle.
By all means train to move forward but keep the exposure minimum and manageable.

We can all find these spots of countryside where people with dogs are easily avoided.
Do it, your dog will thank you.

One of our clients from Causewayhead had this cross painted on her gate. They have been advised by the police it is likely to be the work of dog thieves. Please check your fences, gates, etc. for anything similar.

And just like that I’ve pulled the first Tick of the season out of Jasper! 😩 We have had such a mild winter that the little buggers are emerging early this year, so keep an eye on your lovely puppers! This little card is ideal for removing them but prevention is better than cure so get your anti Tick treatments now! W 🐾
