We all love a treat during the festive period, so here’s a little reminder of some do’s and don’ts for your furry friends! 🐶

It is with a heavy heart that I am unfortunately announcing the closure of Orchard Pets on 20/12/2024. 😢

We have now been open a year and have managed to put some accounts together and unfortunately, the business as it is, is just not viable anymore.

With the cost of living rising drastically this last year I need to find a way to bring more income in to our household.
Unfortunately, the only way I could do this with Orchard pets would be to increase the number of dogs I am taking per day drastically and I believe that this would then take away from the personal touch I have been offering here.

I have loved having your dogs to play over the last year and have made some great bonds with them which has made this decision a really difficult

In the meantime, I will not be taking on any new bookings in December but will honour dates already booked in up until we close.

Thank you for your custom over the last year and thank you for choosing Orchard Pets.

It’s been wonderful!!

Please do not buy. Throw them away if your dog gets one as a gift. Giving rawhide to a dog is never a good idea.

Many of these so called treats end up with the dog "enjoying" some time in a veterinary surgery over Christmas. The vast majority of these rawhide products and treats come from China.

The chews are made from cattle or horse hides and their journey starts with the hides being soaked in a toxic sodium sulfide to remove the hair and fat. More chemicals are used in order to split the hide into layers which is then washed with hydrogen peroxide to give the white "pure" look and remove the rancid smell.

Now comes the pretty festive colors and the glue to form cute shapes. On testing, these chews have shown traces of arsenic, mercury, chromium and formaldehyde.

If that wasn't bad enough, they regularly cause intestinal blockages, poisoning from chemical residue and choking. The chews go slippery when wet and are near impossible to get hold of to save a choking dog.
