Addressing VHD – Our Commitment to Keeping Your Pets Safe 🐾
I’ve had a few questions this year about whether I’ve changed anything to address the risk of Viral Haemorrhagic Disease (VHD) in rabbits. The short answer is: not really. Why? Because from day one, I've always taken this risk seriously and implemented strict biosecurity measures behind the scenes! 💪
What does this mean for you and your pets? Here’s a reminder of what I do to keep everyone safe:
1️⃣ Only Vaccinated Animals Allowed – This has always been my policy. No exceptions.
2️⃣ Health Checks on Admission & Release – Your pet gets a thorough check-up before they leave to ensure they're in tip-top condition.
3️⃣ No Sick Animals Accepted – If any animal shows signs of illness, I’ll refer them to veterinary care immediately. 🏥
4️⃣ Strict Cleaning & Disinfection – All surfaces are thoroughly cleaned before disinfection. Food and water bowls/bottles are rinsed and dried before use! 🌊
5️⃣ Paths & Runs Disinfected Weekly – We make sure low-risk areas like paths and runs are disinfected at least once a week or before introducing new pets.
6️⃣ Pet Carriers – Owners must take their carrier with them after drop off and bring it back for collection
And of course, hand washing is essential when working with your pets.
These measures will continue to keep your pets safe and healthy during their stay. Your peace of mind is top priority, and I'm always here to answer any questions! 🐾✨
