💚💚💚WE NEED YOUR HELP. 💚💚💚💚

We don’t normally ask straight up for donations, we normally plead for things the individual dog needs. This girl needs the vet.

So we are asking if you can spare anything , please make the donation to our Bank and if you pop her name as the reference every penny will go to her care. Buckle up and hold your bottom lip. This is tough to read.

Meet Dixie -

She’s a sight hound less than a year old.

She was found dumped in the garden of a known dog lover, 20 minutes after she got back from holiday.
The lady had no option but to contact her local council and due to circumstances and her injury she found herself as a potential for euthanasia.

She’s been dumped with a badly damaged leg with unknown injuries, she will have been in excruciating pain.

We had to step in and offer rescue, no matter what she costs we will find it.

Our Gabi is making a 6 hour round trip tonight to collect her in the van as it’s set up with a secure spacious crate.
She will then be looked after in the loving home of one of our volunteers.

We’ve got a specialist sling to aid her going out to the bathroom, we have pain relief and anti inflammatory at the ready. The swelling needs to reduce to be assessed properly. So she’s had a virtual consult and is booked in at our vets.

Hopefully they can save her leg, if not sight hounds do cope well on 3 legs. If we can’t save her leg, we’ve saved her life and she’s just a young girl. She deserves that.

In usual ANLOL style we will do an event when we can in her honour and hopefully she will be up to meeting some of you when we do it.

She’s said to be a very sweet girl.

The handsome boy you see before you is called Douglas-Edward III (he just looked too sophisticated to be a “Dougie”🤷🏻‍♀️)

✨ Douglas-Edward III’s Story ✨

After winding up on the euthanasia list,
and even landing on borrowed time, a fabulous “pound pulling” team worked with us to give this boy the lifeline he deserved.

At the end of July, this handsome walked through our doors. Underweight, flighty and very much needing time to adjust to the world again. Since then, we’ve taken the time to thoroughly assess him and his needs, alongside starting his training and exposure, to ensure we find this boy the right space for him.

Douglas is a Lurcher type boy, presumed to be around 2 years old.

Douglas is a gentle, loving and sweet boy with all of the humans he has met, and once he has met other dogs, he has been a big bundle of playful joy, this just needs gentle introductions.

He does however have some pent up energy on lead and behind barriers, so we’ve stripped things back to basics to build his confidence and redirect his frustrations appropriately, so he learns the correct way of doing life!

This training would be better continued in a home environment where his training needs can be the centre of attention and he can flourish into the dog he deserves to be!

This boy certainly doesn’t lack in brains and will make someone a truly amazing companion. Food motivated, toy motivated and crate trained 🫶🏻
