We’re Hiring looking for a permanent weekend person to join our team at Tails of Swale. Based just outside of Thirsk we are in need of help with the boarding kennels on a Saturday and Sunday 7am start until 5pm. An enthusiastic person that is energetic and confident and kind with all breeds of dog.
There is a lot of cleaning, handling dogs in group situations. Would suit a younger adult wishing to work on their feet. If you think you’d be suitable please give me a call.

One year of Leadwise K9- Professional Dog Training 🐾

It’s just over one year since I took the leap into self-employment with Leadwise K9 – Professional Dog Training, following a career spanning 30 years in Policing.

Of those 30 years, 20 were spent within the Police Dog Section, including 10 years as a Police Dog Instructor, training and mentoring operational police dog handlers and specialist canine teams.

That experience provided me with a strong foundation in canine behaviour, learning theory, handler development, operational training, problem solving and welfare-led practice — experience that I now bring to every dog and handler I work with.

Twelve months on, I’m incredibly proud of how Leadwise K9 has developed. I’ve had the privilege of working with puppy owners, family dogs, gundog owners and working dog enthusiasts, helping them build dogs that are calmer, more engaged, more reliable and more confident both in everyday life and in training.

My approach is centred around clear communication, ethical and evidence-based training, practical real-world application and training tailored to the individual dog and handler. For me, good training isn’t simply about obedience — it’s about developing understanding, building confidence and strengthening the relationship between dog and owner.

I want to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to everyone who has trusted me with their dogs, recommended Leadwise K9, supported the business or simply followed the journey over the past year. Every client, every dog and every conversation has played a part in getting the business to where it is today.

A special thank you to Caroline at TAILS of SWALE and her team for giving me the opportunity to deliver presentations to their kennel customers and staff, and to Laura at the ever-growing Billys bus, who I’ve had the pleasure of working and training with — and, of course, all the fantastic dogs along the way.

From leaving a 30-year career in Policing to building something of my own, the past year has been a huge step. I’m excited for what the next chapter holds and to continue providing professional canine training and behaviour services across Yorkshire, the North of England and beyond, with the same commitment to professionalism, integrity and high standards that has guided me throughout my career.

Thank you for being part of the journey. Here’s to the next chapter. 🐾
