The last Cullinan AKA Rupert update for a bit as this lovely boy is having a few months well earned rest to grow and mature.
He had done absolutely nothing when he left here at the end of March and has really blown us away with his attitude and ability to learn particularly for such a big and slightly nervy horse but he has just grown and grown in confidence and there’s no doubting his ability.
Looking forward to see him start his career proper next year.
Lovely boy.
Great job done by Lily and her team.

Some reference pictures of 3 of our lovely yearlings. (Melvin Will definitely need his own post after his shenanigans this year)
They are
Oscar who is Diarado X Tout Royale ( full sibling to Tout Chocolat and Tout Noisette )
Fred who is Duplexx X Strawberry Switchblade (Dam is half sister to Grand Espoir and granddam full sister to Tout Royale )
Elton who is Conkanno X Kangaruby ( half brother to our lovely Rupert who looks so promising)
Considering Elton has been home a week after a trip into Rossdales to be castrated I think he looks amazing.
The other 2 were castrated at home but one of Elton’s 🥜 was very slightly high and rather than mess about at home we decided to opt for a nice clean GA castration.
Hopefully some really exciting times ahead for these boys.

Back home from another wonderful weekend in Ireland at Millstreet International Horse Trials
It didn’t disappoint and Ireland definitely feels like a 2nd home now as everyone is just so friendly.
Grand Espoir AKA Arthur was doing his 2nd 3* and a very big meaty 3* it was but he made it look so easy it wasn’t true with an impressive double clear for 7th place.
He’s now 2 from 2 double clears at this level and as ever beautifully ridden by John Tilley with assistance from Andrew Williams.
They really are the best people who always have time and make a lone traveller feel very welcome.
As a foal we always felt Arthur was special and his proper name translates to Big Hope , at the moment that name feels very fitting as he’s looking very special indeed.
I have to thank my wonderful hubby Tom Forster for looking after the neddies so I can get away.
But I can’t detract from other Groomsbridge stud neddies and graduates who were out competing this weekend at Portman.
Tout Noisette who is Tinkas 2nd foal and actually grew up as a foal with Arthur was double clear and 3rd in her 2nd novice and has now achieved her 2* qualification Jess Green Ella Green
She’s such a good and consistent girl.
Super proud to have bred these 2 horses.
Also competing but not bred by us was Ice and Fire.
Ice and fire was conceived , born and raised by us here at the stud as her lovely mother boarded with us until she was 27 and he is by our lovely homebred boy Icefyre.
He was competing in his first novice for 7th place.
So all in all an amazing weekend.
No pictures as that moment as not been home long but one little video I took of the lovely Arthur flying over the bird nest fence
Interestingly Icefyre has a pretty much identical pedigree to the dams of the above 2 mares.
Performance is very much bred into there genetics

Wow what a weekend and where to start.
2 very early morning trips to Aston le Walls to watch 2 Groomsbridge stud bred horses that were sold as either foals or youngsters competing in the international classes and also a little outing to Cirencester for our baby giant Rupert AKA Cullinan.
Grand Espoir AKA Arthur was truly spectacular in his first 3* with a planned steady double clear.
The temperature was truly scorching but as usual he did everything with his ears pricked and a smile on his face for John Tilley showing total class.
Next up was Tout Noisette AKA Rosie doing her first 1* for a fabulous double clear and 7th place.
Like her mum Tinka she just lives for the jumping phases and really comes to life on the x country.
Tinkas first 2 daughters are now international event horses and Arthur’s dam is Tinkas full sister so very much in the family.
We feel very proud to have built this family tree from my 2 original competition horses.
Rosie is very much adored by Ella and Jess Green who own and pander to her every need.
Last and by no means least Rupert had a little trip to Cirencester to do a BYEH.
Now Rupert AKA Cullinan is a baby giraffe and only left here at the end of March having done nothing other than be a growing baby.
He’s a nervy chap and Lily Bradstock has done an astounding job backing and producing him so far.
With absolutely no expectations other than a peaceful educational outing he was such a good boy.
Surprising good marks for dressage and jumping for something so Green made our day and he wasn’t last so absolutely thrilled.
So much more to come from this horse next year.
Absolutely thrilled with all of them.
And here’s to more exciting babies coming out in the future.

Really happy to receive lovely school reports from the boys this week from their respective partners.
I’m blown away really how Rupert AKA Cullinan has taken to his ridden life.
He is nervy around people he doesn’t know although the politest and most mannerly horse on the planet particularly for the size he is.
Lily Bradstock and her team have done an amazing job with him and he’s looking happy , content and enjoying his new adventures.
Humphrey AKA Tout Alezan took a little longer to settle into the routine on a busier yard but has been an absolute little star and taken everything in his stride once he got the hang of a busier yard.
Martin Wright ,Janine Lamy and Team Lamy Wright give horses so much time and confidence and we’re sure they’re going to have so much fun in the coming years with this chap.
He is also looking absolutely amazing.
I couldn’t be more happy with the care these 2 young horses are getting.
Video is of Rupert.

Another outing for Arthur AKA Grand Espoir and another win.
That’s 4/4 wins this season 2 x ON 1 x 2* and now Open intermediate.
He was Bred by ourselves at Groomsbridge stud and sold as an unbacked 4 year old.
We Would love to still own him as he’s such an exciting horse.
Beautifully produced , ridden and looked after by John Tilley and Andrew Williams at Kilkenny international sporthorses
No new photos at the moment as can’t find the photographer but a pic of the lovely collage I did for his win at Millstream.
You have to take the good days as there are so many bad days in breeding. And for us we breed so few numbers we have to try and make every foal count and reach there full potential.

Millstreet 2026 eventing.
Well what can I say I’m so beyond excited that Grand Espoir won the 2* there this weekend 🥂
From 3 2* sections he was the only horse that managed to finish on his dressage score.
There’s been some fantastic results from the horses we’ve bred competing advanced and 4* etc but this is the first proper international win for a horse we’ve bred.
Sure he’s won a 1* and also a national title but I don’t really count those as proper international classes.
So a bit of a milestone for Groomsbridge stud with this.
Fantastically produced and ridden by John Tilley Andrew Williams at Kilkenny international sporthorses
There will be a Load more pictures when I can decide which ones to buy 🤣

Stud season 2026 has started for most people but will be a much quieter one for us this year.
The only stallion on the stud these days is our own retired boy Icefyre who at the moment is nannying a rather large 11 month old c**t and having a lovely time.
With the current economic climate as it is we have left our broodmares empty and our livery mares have also all been retired.
It’s been nice to have a quiet winter and be able to spend more time with family.
Our 2 four year olds have recently gone off to learn what life is about which just leaves us with our own horses.
But stud season has started and we do have space for a small number of foaling mares and mares for AI
So please contact us if you are looking for somewhere to send your mares.
The eventing season has also started and Tout Noisette has started the season amazingly with 2 double clears in a 100 plus and 105 in her preparation for the grass roots final at Badminton.
So a short and sweet update but just a reminder that we are still here and do have some availability.
Picture of the lovely Tout Noisette and Ella yesterday heading to 8th place at Oxtalls.

13/08/2025

The lovely Mildenberger departed home yesterday signalling the end of the 2025 stud season.
Now to concentrate on getting the foals and youngstock organised.
All 5 foals and 2 x 3 year olds will be looking for new 🏡 this autumn.
Some absolutely top class stock directly related to international horses.
We are starting viewings in a couple of weeks , some of which are already booked and at the moment in time we are just finalising prices.

Finally the 5th and final Groomsbridge baby has arrived.
11 days late which is usual for this mare so we anticipated it would be another c**t and so it is.
Very tall and elegant with the smallest and curliest button ears I have ever seen.
This c**t is by top young PS stallion Conkanno and the dam sire is our lovely and much missed Sadlers Wells stallion “High Tension “
Real quality TB blood we’re looking forward to seeing this chap uncrumpled himself.
Another from the dam line of all the best horses we have bred.
