Are you mad? They’re dogs, not humans… are they that lazy? Just 3 questions/statements I’ve heard this week!
Yes, I maybe a little mad, yes I know they are dogs and not humans and no they aren’t “just that lazy”!!!
I have pushchairs for the dogs I care for/walk because I don’t like leaving them behind and I like to still include them and give them that break they still need. No, they don’t go in the buggy for the entire walk, in fact they walk as much as I think they can manage until they’re starting to struggle.
When the dogs start getting older and/or poorly, they’re little bodies just can’t do what they used to. Whether it’s arthritis or other health conditions to just old age, usually a mixture of both, they still enjoy getting out and about, sniffing, going toilet and mixing with their friends, but they just can’t always walk the whole walk anymore.
The buggies mean I can still include each dog and help them still enjoy the fresh air, sights, sounds and smells but we just roll rather than walk all the way.
The “they are dogs not humans” comment is what upset me the most!! They might not be human but they still have feelings, they still want to join in. They are still someone’s baby, my babies too!! I have walked a lot of my dogs for very many years and watching them get older hurts me as much as the owners. I get so attached to each of them, I love them all so much and it breaks my heart when they’re finding life tougher.
So I don’t care if people think I’m mad, no my dogs aren’t lazy, well not most of them.. no they aren’t human, they’re much nicer than a lot of them which is why I love doing what I do.
So next time you see someone with a dog in a buggy, don’t make a rude comment or roll your eyes, remember they are family to that person and loved dearly. They don’t want the leave their baby behind, they still want to take them places and this is a great way of doing it when they have limited walking power left ♥️
