🐱 DID YOU KNOW? 🐱 Spring and summer months are the seasons where cats are most likely to get pregnant. Cats are seasonally polyoestrus, this means they have lots of fertile periods known as the oestrus cycle or ‘heat’, throughout spring and summer, compared to dogs who only cycle every 6-12 months. They are also induced ovulators, meaning that they ovulate when mated and are capable of getting pregnant and having multiple litters per year. Signs that your cat is in heat include increased vocalisation (this is sometimes mistaken for a painful noise), being more affectionate, rubbing themselves against objects, arching their back, low crawling, and holding their tail to the side. We recommend neutering cats so that they can more safely explore the outdoors, reducing their risk of transmitting diseases and eliminating the risk of pregnancy. Please call us if you have any questions about neutering or if you need to make an appointment 🐈⬛ 🐈 Thank you to our client Caroline Hughes for letting use this brilliant photo of her beautiful cats for this post. They’re such a cuddly bunch and we look forward to their visits 🐾
