Info about Gavin Robertson - SOLETRADER

I have been involved with dogs since childhood beginning with Beagles and PBGV. Over the last 40 years I’ve been involved with many breeds across Hounds, Terriers, Utility and Gundogs. With my wife we have owned or bred over 90 UK champions, we have had good
the fortune to have had Top Hound on 6 separate occasions, as well as the number
1 dog all breeds in 2012 and 2018, culminating in going BIS at Crufts 2013 with our homebred PBGV and RBIS at Crufts 2019 with a son of the BIS winner.

Proud breeders of the 2023 Westminster BIS winner making us the only kennel in
history to have bred 2 dogs to Crufts and Westminster BIS winners. I first awarded CC's in 1999 and I am now currently approved to judge over 70 breeds at CC level across all 7 groups as well as doing the Hound, Gundog, Working and Utility groups plus BIS at Ch show level. I have been fortunate to have judged breed specialties, club shows and All breed
shows across Europe, Australia and North America.I have judged breeds at Crufts
and had the honour of judging the Hound group at Crufts in 2022.

I am looking forward to once again joining the judging panel at Thame’s 10th anniversary show.

💫Stop Press !! Some exciting news! 💫

We held our AGM recently and are delighted to welcome on board 2 new Committee Members -
Jill Dee ( Donaldson) and Derfel John Owen

We welcome them both and look forward to working with you 🤩

Nothing like going in running as Jill will be taking on the role of Show Manager this year whilst Jeff Horswell is convalescing at home - we wish him a speedy recovery and know that Team Thame will feel different on show day without him at the helm, but I know Jill will do a fab job and Jeff is helping get ring orders sorted from the comfort of his home 🤩

We are still after some extra stewards and you know we look after you well!! Our new email for this is [email protected] - Jill & Jeff are working through the lists of already offered stewards so don’t panic your details are all transferred and will email you more details nearer the show date. But any new offerings to help would be gratefully received 🤩

A bit about Jill

I have been involved in the world of dog showing for many years, having first begun with Bernese Mountain Dogs and Newfoundlands. Over time, my main passion has developed around Gordon Setters, a breed in which I have been fortunate to achieve Challenge Certificate wins. Alongside exhibiting my own dogs, I have had the opportunity to handle a variety of breeds within the Gundog group, gaining valuable experience and insight across different types. A particular highlight of my exhibiting career has been the privilege of handling in the Group at Crufts. I am keen to contribute this experience to the Thame Committee, helping to ensure that shows are enjoyable, well-organised, and reflective of the high standards our sport upholds.

Info about Derfel

Derfel is judging for us this year - in keeping with inviting some judges back for our 10 year anniversary so that will keep him busy show day however he will be helping set up the day before so not loosing out on committee duties 🤣🤣🤩

AV Utility Special Beginners, Affenpinscher

I first attended a dog show in 1993 and ever since I have been engaged with dog shows in one way or another. I was Kennel Club Junior of the Year in 1997 and have owned, bred and
campaigned champion and stud book entry English Toy Terriers (B&T) and Boston Terriers. I sit on the committee ETT Club Committee and have served as the Breed Education Co-Ordinator, and had the great honour of judging the breed at Crufts 2024. I have awarded CCs since 2010, am passed for 13 breeds in the toy group, and one in the Utility Group. I judged my Championship level group in 2023.

I am looking forward to judging for Thame again this year as such a welcoming show and look forward to working with their team as part of the Committee.

We are pleased to introduce our Hound Group Judge who will be over from Australia

Roni Oma - Costog Bullmastiffs - All Breed Judge

Roni will be judging Australian Terrier, Deerhound, Basset Fauve De Bretagne as well as the Hound Group, AV Hound, AV Import Hound, AV Veteran Hound, AVNSC Hound, AV Special Beginners Hound

Details from Roni about herself - I was born in Guildford England and raised in London before emigrating to Western Australia with my parents. Dogs entered my life relatively late. I was smitten by the Bullmastiff and have owned, showed and breed this wonderful breed since 1995. I have bred 15 champions to date under my prefix.

My most successful – and Australia’s most awarded Bullmastiff to date had an impressive show career over 8 years including 2 ½ years campaigned in the UK and EU. He has sired 3 Crufts CC winners and after returning home to me in 2017, Kif was top Bullmastiff Sire in the UK from 2018 to 2022. I am proud that he is included in the UK RKC’s 2017 book of Breed Standards as the representative Bullmastiff. He is also the first Bullmastiff in Australia to be awarded the new title Sire Of Merit (SOM) having produced 21 champions, 14 in Australia and 7 overseas.

I entered the judges training program in 2007 and was elevated to All Breeds (ANKC) status in 2020. I am an FCI International All Breeds judge and registered with the UK RKC as a Level 4 judge. I have judged at all breeds champ shows throughout Australia, Thailand (three times), New Zealand (twice), and The Philippines. I am judging in Finland, Latvia and the UK (NWPBS) in 2026.

I am a committee member of the WA Kennel Club, Western Australia’s longest established all breeds dog club, and former President of the Utility Dog Club of WA.

I am fortunate to live in Perth’s Swan Valley wine region with my dogs in an energy-efficient house where I aim to live as sustainably as I can, growing much of my food. I have now permanently retired
following a career as an environmental scientist. My aim now is to indulge my passions for travel and judging and continuing to learn about dogs; showing and breeding my Bullmastiffs.

I am looking forward to judging for Thame & Oxfordshire County Canine Society and thank them for the invite.

Mrs Jane Eyeington (Meadowdale)

For 30 years, with my husband Steve, we have had both working and show gundogs. Our breeds have been Labradors, German Shorthaired Pointers, English Springer Spaniels and a Welsh Terrier.
To date, we have ‘made up’ a FULL champion GSP, also another with CC’s and field trial awards. My main breed for showing is the English Springer Spaniel. To date, with 11 ‘UK’ show champions, 4 Irish Show Champions, also, JW, ShCM, CC’s and RCCs’s
We have also owned the ‘working type’ of English Springer Spaniel and gained several Field Trial awards.
I was delighted to have achieved ‘Top Dog’ in 2023, also ‘Top Breeder’ 2013 & 2014 and ‘Top Brood’ for 2013, 2014 & 2016 for the English Springer Spaniel. Previously also having been awarded numerous ‘Top Puppy’ awards. Winning Best of Breed at Crufts 2014, also home to the breed record holder for the for the top Black/White English Springer Spaniel.
I have had the pleasure of judging overseas in Australia, Pakistan, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, and Ireland.
I am fortunate to have been passed to award CC’s in the UK for 25 gundogs, including the Gundog Group, and 5 Terrier breeds, 2 Hounds and 1 Toy breed (Cavaliers).
I am very much looking forward to judging at the ‘Thame & Oxfordshire County Canine Society’ Open Show in 2026

*** Our Judges ***

This year for our 10th Anniversary Show we wanted to bring back some of our judges who were there at the start of our journey. So you will see some familiar faces as well as some new and 1st time judges on our judging panel - please do support them.

A familiar face & well respected judge to many in the dog show world is our Gundog Group Judge Karl Gawthorpe.

Karl Gawthorpe – Gundog Group, AV Gundog, AV Import Gundog, AV Special Veteran Gundog, AVNSC Gundog, AV Special Beginners Gundog, Irish Setter, English Setters, Bracco Italiano, Weimaraner

I have been involved with dogs for around 50 years, firstly with my parents and then on my own. My main breed is Labrador Retrievers and I have had the pleasure to show some wonderful dogs. I award CC’s in Labradors and Golden Retrievers, and I have also been passed to award CC’s in Curly Coats. I have been the secretary of two Labrador Clubs, I am also the secretary of the Lab Breed Council and the BEC. This will be my second time judging at this well-run show and I know that the committee have worked hard over the years to make it even better. So I can't wait to have the pleasure of judging some wonderful breeds on the day.
