🐶🌿 UK Dog Walkers – It’s Tick Season! 🌿🐶
I swear these posts happen earlier each year!!🫣
Do you love long walks in the countryside with your dog? Unfortunately, so do ticks... 🪳
Ticks are common across the UK, especially in:
🌲 Woodlands
🌾 Long grass & meadows
🏞️ Moorland & countryside paths
🐑 Areas with deer or livestock
They can carry diseases like Lyme disease, so it’s important to stay vigilant.
🔎 After every walk:
✔️ Check your dog’s ears, neck, armpits, groin & between toes
✔️ Feel for small lumps while stroking their coat
✔️ Remove ticks promptly with a proper tick removal tool (twist, don’t pull!)
✔️ Avoid burning, squeezing or covering with substances
🛡️ Prevention matters:
Speak to your vet about tick prevention treatments suited to your dog.
If your dog seems lethargic, lame, feverish, or off their food after a tick bite — contact your vet ASAP!
A quick 60 second check after each walk can ensure the safety of your best friend 🐶💕
Let's share wide and far to keep as much dogs safe for these horrible little beasties 🪳🦠
