Februarys Rescue Dog story....
I met Sam and 3 beautiful happy dogs a couple of weeks back.
Sam has her own 2 dogs, rescues from the RSPCA, and also takes in other rescues to foster while theyre waiting for a forever home.
The work that Sam, and other fosterers do is amazing, something I probably couldnt do, as letting go of each dog youve come to love must be SO hard!
It was clear she is passionate about what she does, helping as much as she can with giving dogs a better life.
River is thought to be a Collie and Jack Russell mix. He was found floating face down in a river, ( hence the name) on a frozen January morning, aged just 12 weeks old, possibly a dumped Christmas present.
The poor little soul was skin and bones, and suffering with hypothermia, when the RSPCA took him in, and Sam took him to foster....fell in love with his cheeky nature, and decided to keep him to join the family.
Dexter, a Collie, was taken in by the dogs Trust, Harefield, in 2014 after being found neglected and locked in a shed with his mother and 6 other litter mates, 2 of which had already died, aged 8 weeks.
He stayed with the Dogs Trust until he was 3 months old, and ready for rehoming, and Sam took him on the week after she lost her 14 year old Collie, Jade.
And then, theres Pip..a miniature Pinscher and Jack Russell mix.
He arrived yapping away in the car, so excited to get out and play, and bounced around with so much energy!
Pip arrived to the RSPCA in 2017 as a 4 month old pup with a broken femur, due to a household accident. He had his leg pinned and was put on cage rest for 6 weeks, while Sam looked after him, until he was well enough to look for a new home.
When he had the pins removed, he immediately started flying around on all 4 legs, and has now found a wonderful new home with a great family, sharing his life with a canine friend and 3 young boys. I think theyre all going to have so much fun!
Its truly amazing how trusting and forgiving these dogs are, after suffering such ordeals, and heartwarming to see them all now enjoying life.
