I make my rat mix (based on the shunamite diet) in fairly small batches compared to the other breeders I know, which means that when I have babies I make it fairly frequently 😂

In the first picture you can see the components that are in here, rabbit food base mix, seed mix, processed grains, herbs and vegetables and then dog kibble for protein

One of the things I look for in potential homes is that the babies will be fed a mix, whether that's one you buy in from rat rations, ratcessories etc or you make your own

I moved Opi and the babies into a large Coco cage last night and they immediately got to exploring 😍

If you're looking for a cage for rats and don't want one of the double cages the Coco large is a great option, despite how it looks in photos it's actually the equivalent of half an srs/pet planet/ explorer and great for a group of up to 5/6

I will probably have a pair of does available from this litter though I'm not sure who yet since I haven't decided on my keepers

A lovely day was had at the Midlands Rat Club show yesterday, I came home with 4 rosettes for my own rats. Czol came home with Russian blue and best russian and Resonata got variegated, then over in pets Este got a special award for "tart "attack" 😆😆

Some of my pet homes Djeli's did well too, including the ones that went to live over at RattieAngels to be used for breeding

One of the highlights of my day was receiving this lovely gift from Charlotte at Goedric's Hollow , made by the talented . It's Opi and her foster babies, one rex and one smooth 😍😍

We will be at the Midlands Rat Club show on Saturday, it would be lovely to see some pet-homed Djeli's there. Of course you don't have to show to come along, you can just attend and chat to fellow rat lovers and do some ratty shopping at our stalls

If you are interested in entering rats then you need to enter via the website before 8pm tonight

If you are a member then your AGM pack is on the way! If you are unable to attend the AGM which is on the 5th April at Weedon Bec Village Hall then you can send your postal votes back, using the envelope provided by the 2nd April. The show will be open to everyone as usual but the AGM will be restricted to members only. Don't forget to renew your membership if needed 🥰

The countdown is on to the next show and the committee are already working behind the scenes getting the show organised

Happy Mother's Day to Opi who is my only doe that is currently raising babies! She's about to get some baby free time whilst my 10 year old helps supervise some play pen time

7 of my girls are Mama's who have raised litters including Pippi who is Opi's mama so I think it's a tasty treat day all round 😁

Opi and all 13 babies are doing well, they're turning into mini rats now, climbing and starting to eat dry mix and their yummy extras

I pay Opi a treat tax whenever I get the babies out for a cuddle session, she's doing an amazing job and I tell her so multiple times a day. She'd rather have a treat than be complimented though 😆

Good morning from Opi and
13 1 week old babies 🥰

She's doing so well raising her 5 and the 8 babies from Goedric's Hollow, we still have some smaller babies but Charlotte and I are very pleased with how things are going 💓

On Tuesday Opi gave birth to 6 babies with 5 survivors, 4 does and 1 buck. They had good milk bands and Opi was quite happily mothering them. On Wednesday they were joined by 8 babies from Goedric's Hollow , Char Lotte-g and I have been keeping our fingers and toes crossed that Opi would foster the babies and have enough milk to feed everyone

It's still early days but we're now hopeful enough to share as all 13 babies are still with us! 🎉 I've been lucky enough not to be in this position before but sometimes even pairing multiple does to have in house back up just doesn't work out so I'm glad that I was able to help and know that Charlotte would do the same for me if needed. 🥰

I’ve got a trio of girls looking for a new home, these girls will be ready to collect from the 15th March. They are an agouti, agouti rex and a Russian blue agouti doe. If anyone is interested please let me know, allocation of these lovely girls will be subject to an application process and pictures of your set up.
