GRASS SEEDS 🌾
… tiny, but an absolute nightmare. These things can get stuck pretty much anywhere in your dog. The fine pointy shape means they can get themselves stuck in your dog with ease.
🌱 Common places you may find them:
- ears: shaking head, scratching ear, tilting head, whining/yelping when they move their head
- eyes: swollen eyelid, weeping, eye not opening fully, redness
- paws: licking or chewing paws, reluctant to walk on a paw, swelling
- nose: sneezing, coughing, gagging
- in the skin: swelling, abscess, non-healing wound
⛑️ It’s important that you get them to the vet to get the grass seed removed as fast as possible. Once the seed has entered the body, it can migrate around and cause a whole lot of trouble for your pup. It can lead to infections, pierce through organs, and cause a great deal of pain.
🐶 this photo is from last year… i had to take to the vets as he was shaking his head, scratching his ear, vocalising pain, and reluctant to walk. Turns out he had this nasty grass seed in his ear 🥺
