Mantrailing in an urban environment throws up new puzzles for our Dogs & handlers...

🧍‍♂️Increased human scent in the area
🐶 Lots of Dog scent around
👣 🐾 People & dog traffic contaminating trails, creating natural decoys & distractions
🚗 Vehicles creating lots of scent movement
🔊 Higher levels of noise to contend with
👀 Busy areas provide more visual distractions

Less space, blind corners, narrow paths & roadsides also challenges our line handling as we have to work our Dogs on a shorter line than usual - a skill in itself for our teams!

A fantastic mornings Mantrailing on Saturday 🐾
We welcomed back little Sam... a 12yr old JRT who knows the job & his enthusiasm never wanes 😍
Hawk the GSDxMali was a complete newbie. He & his Mum proved to be a great team & I look forward to watching them progress together 😀
Rolo the spaniel was on just his 2nd session & is also showing great promise as a fab trailer. With both enthusiasm & skill he's a natural! 👍

Great work teams & lots of fun too! What more could a trainer ask for! 🩵

Last weekends Mantrailers were a delightfully mixed bunch... in every way possible...

From the very little, to the rather large, ages varying from just 15 weeks to 6 years, some super friendly, others more reserved, a total newbie, some at the start of their journey & one more experienced... we had them all! 🐾🥰

It was a fab session & each dog demonstrated just why we love Mantrailing... because it's inclusive & ALL Dogs can do it 🐶🩵🐶

A perfect morning for Mantrailing after the storm!
This weekend we introduced Abbey & the very handsome Hunter to the game... they were both naturals! 🩵

Claire returned with Jay the Cocker & brought Shearer & Eddie along to give it a try. All were brilliant 🥰

It's always lovely to see them work it out & grow in confidence, even in as little as one session.

Looking forward to lots of fun to come with all of these guys! 🐾🐶

We had a beautiful Autumnal morning at Thorp Arch last weekend... perfect for introducing 2 more fantastic dog teams to Mantrailing! 🍁🍂

Polly started off quite cautious & reserved, but with a bit of gentle encouragement her confidence grew with each trail she did 🩷

Brian also had a bit of a cautious start. He can be worried around new people & in new places. That was all soon forgotten when he realised he was there to do one of his favourite activities for one of his favourite things. Sniffing for a peanut butter reward... is there a better way to start the weekend!?! 💙

We also had fellow instructor Fiona join us with her nervous field spaniel who is new to the sport 🤎

It was lovely to see all three Dogs grow in confidence & enjoy themselves 😍🐾
Well done teams... you all aced it!! 🩵

Thorp Arch is a fabulous venue for our Mantrailing sessions... one of my favourites! 😍
It offers great variety in the trails we do... working around buildings, open spaces, roadsides, woodland, hard surfaces, grassed areas... you name it, it's here!
There can be distractions a plenty... vehicles, people, activity in/around buildings, wildlife... but we can also work in quiet areas where distractions can be kept to a minimum.
It's great for our reactive friends too... the occasional dog walker but very easy to avoid 🐾
