SATURDAY (27th July) UPDATE: she’s had a transfusion overnight with dog blood, which has raised her red blood cell count to a better level. The hospital have said she was brighter this morning and a little happier which is good news. We are by no means out of the woods yet though.
It’s now a case of waiting to see if her body starts to regenerate its own red blood cells. If not and her red blood cell level drops again, it’s likely that she’d need a transfusion with cat blood.
So it’s a bit of a waiting game now. We are keeping everything crossed that her body responds.
If her red blood count has stayed up this evening, they’ll move to focus on the underlying cause. In the event it’s dropped, we’ll be looking to arrange a second transfusion.
Thanks to FB and the kindness of people reading this, we now have four cats who might be able to donate, all dependant on them being a blood type match and fit and able to. Her owners want to express their thanks to everyone for sharing and caring. I will of course keep you updated over the next few days xx

UPDATE: We’ve just had a message from the vets to say that she’s deteriorated and so we’re now looking for donors tonight. It would involve bringing the cat to the vets tonight. They would have a blood test whilst conscious (if possible) to check for a match. And providing they were a match and able to give a donation, they’d wait until it was safe to sedate before taking a donation.
For anyone who is happy to help but unable to travel, her owners are happy to collect and provide transport for cat and owner.

ORIGINAL POST (FRIDAY 26TH JULY) Little Miss Fuzzyface is very unwell and needs our help urgently.
Today she’s been diagnosed with severe anaemia and has been transferred to the out of hours ICU. They’re administering fluids and steroids but have advised that she will likely need a blood transfusion tonight.
We have learnt today that dog blood is readily available. However, cat blood isn’t. She can have a dog blood transfusion but there’s a risk that she either doesn’t accept it, or digests the blood within a few days because her body will recognise it as foreign.
We are, therefore, looking for cat blood donors who may be able to give a blood donation in the next few days, in the event she needs one. It would likely involve the other cat being sedated so its blood type could be tested and if a match, a donation taken. The donor cat would need to weigh over 4kg and be between the age of 1-8 years old.
