Working with reactive / anxious dogs!

Never thought this would be a massive issue but here goes! I’m constantly flashed, tailgated, beeped at and even had someone come out of their car to try and open my boot at a junction to tell me the lead is there when I transport this dog to his walk. I know, thank you…. but I know!

Some of the dogs I work with cannot have hands enter into their space in the boot therefore for my safety and their comfort their lead is placed there so I don’t have to reach into the boot and cause them alarm and distress. I grab the lead and they disembark happy and not stressed.

Please share with others that in some cases it is deliberate and an adaptation for a dog and please don’t relentlessly, beep, blind me with flashing lights the whole journey and pull right up to my bumper. It’s dangerous for me and the animal I’m transporting. I’ll probably get a sticker to put there.

Ps the dog can always move around the full area of the boot when I place the lead like this and I ensure it doesn’t dangle.
