I have seen an absolutely horrific post that’s been shared in the last few days of a Dog Walker (not in this area by the way) abusing someone’s little dog. It was a cowardly and disgusting act and was not in any sense what an Animal Carer should be like or how they should react.

This Dog Walker had worked for the family for many years and so was trusted to care for their little dogs but looking back there were signs that one of the dogs had started to fear the Walker.

Any unexplained changes in behaviour towards any of your animal carers should be addressed straight away, have cameras, call them in for a chat / meeting and if needed end your services if your dog is not comfortable.

This is happening too often now. That dog was an extremely small breed and it was cornered and struck several times by a full sized human! 20x the dogs size! Its only option was to bite to try and stop the situation. That was it’s only communication left!

This “carer” is now on TikTok making light of the situation.

It is not acceptable she hopefully will be reported and never have an animal in her care again!

Watch your dogs behaviour, they should be excited to see us, ready for their adventures and time with us!

I’ve always said to my customers I don’t mind hidden cameras, you turning up when I’m there at your house or walking, I don’t mind chatting openly about any concerns as that’s what us pet professionals do! We make both owner and pets feel comfortable and confident in the services we provide!

Please please act fast on any concerns you have with any of your animal care providers, just as you would for a child. Your pets matter, hope this dog and their owners recover mentally from this awful trauma.

Dog Walkers, if you can’t help a dog through a bad day either, don’t become one! Like us they have their good and bad days but we should be showing up for them and giving them love and letting them have the best time!
