Well I can hardly believe, it's been three whole years since I left my proper job.
In July 2023, I was pretty burnt out, so I gave myself the summer off with the kids, and then in September, set about creating some kind of livelihood for myself. It was a slow start, partly because I had no clue what I was doing, and also because I was still a bit ill. First, I stripped the spare room, and turned it into a sewing studio (with an obligatory IKEA trip thrown in). Then I started sewing. All I really wanted to do was make wild jumpers for sighthounds, so that's what I did.
And three years on here we are.
What an adventure it's been! I've met lots of fantastic friends, and so many beautiful hounds, some in person, some online. I've made more jumpers than I can count and Nellie has got a full-on fan following. I've been able to collect my kids from school every day, attend every parent's evening, and sports days. I've completely accepted I'm never going to get rich working a small business but what I've gained is priceless. So here's to the next three and beyond ππ
This picture is from 2 years ago, but I love it, so I'm sharing again. I swear my boys are twice the size now though π
I'm working really limited hours now until September while the kids are home from school. I do often feel a bit guilty about this but I would also feel guilty putting them in some kind of childcare (plus, as mentioned, the funds won't stretch to childcare anyway π€£π). The shop is staying open, it's super quiet this time of year anyways. So any orders will still be sent out within 3 weeks. Ready to send bits will be speedy as usual!
I'll be back to work on 3rd September with lots of exciting new-ness!
