🐰🐹🦜 Don't Forget the Little Ones This Summer! β˜€οΈ
When the weather gets hot, it's not just cats and dogs who need extra care. Rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, birds, reptiles, and other small pets can quickly become overheated.
πŸ’› Help keep them safe:
πŸ’§ Ensure they always have fresh, cool water.
🌳 Keep enclosures in the shade and out of direct sunlight.
🌬️ Make sure there's plenty of ventilation and airflow.
🧊 Provide cooling aids such as frozen water bottles wrapped in a towel, cooling mats, or ceramic tiles for rabbits and guinea pigs to lie on.
πŸ₯¬ Offer water-rich treats where appropriate, such as leafy greens for rabbits and guinea pigs.
🚫 Never leave cages, hutches, or tanks in hot conservatories, sheds, or vehicles.
⚠️ Watch for signs of overheating, including rapid breathing, lethargy, drooling (where applicable), loss of appetite, or collapse. If you think your pet is suffering from heat stress or heat stroke, move them to a cooler place and contact a your vet immediately.
Every pet, no matter how small, depends on us to keep them safe. A few simple precautions can make all the difference during hot weather. ❀️

🌑️🐾 Hot Weather Can Be Deadly for Pets – Know the Signs of Heat Stroke
As temperatures rise, our furry friends are at serious risk of heat stroke, which can become life-threatening in just minutes.
⚠️ Watch for these warning signs:
β€’ Excessive panting or difficulty breathing
β€’ Drooling more than usual
β€’ Lethargy or weakness
β€’ Bright red or pale gums
β€’ Vomiting or diarrhea
β€’ Staggering, collapse, or seizures
πŸ’§ Help protect your pet:
βœ… Always provide fresh, cool water
βœ… Walk dogs during the early morning or late evening
βœ… Keep pets in shaded, well-ventilated areas
βœ… Never leave your pet in a parked carβ€”not even for a few minutes
βœ… Avoid hot pavements that can burn paws
🚨 If you suspect heat stroke:
Move your pet to a cool, shaded area, offer small amounts of cool (not ice-cold) water, cool them with water from the hose pipe or a bucket, and contact your veterinarian immediately. Heat stroke is a medical emergency.
A little extra care during hot weather can save a life. ❀️

🐾 Exciting News! 🦷

We're delighted to announce that we've recently upgraded our veterinary dental services to include digital dental X-rays for all dental patients!

Many dental problems in pets occur below the gumline and can't be seen during a routine oral examination. Digital dental X-rays allow us to detect hidden issues such as damaged teeth, infections, bone loss, and retained tooth roots, helping us provide more accurate diagnoses and the best possible treatment for your pet.

Whether your pet is visiting for a routine dental procedure or treatment for a specific dental concern, they'll now benefit from enhanced diagnostics as part of their care.

πŸ“… Book your pet's dental assessment today and give them the very best in dental care. We're committed to keeping your pet's smile healthy, comfortable, and pain-free!

What a kind and thoughtful gesture from one of our clients!
She is a senior member of the community who was struggling with her dog and came in for advice. Our nurse Lisa went above and beyond with her compassion and calming manners to help this lady and her beloved pet.
We love helping our senior clients and we loved seeing how this lady showed gratitude. So much so that we had to share it with you all.
Kindness might well spread around the world!

**Important Update Regarding Missed Appointments**

It saddens us to have to write about this issue again.

We really do understand that life can be busy, and sometimes appointments need to be changed or cancelled. However, we have had another 6 appointments missed (no shows) in the last 2 days, which means that valuable appointment times are being wasted while other pets are waiting to be seen.

To help us provide the best possible service for all our patients, we are introducing the following policy:

* Clients who fail to attend two appointments without notice will be required to pay for future appointment s in advance at the time of booking

* Clients in our Pet Health Club who have missed two appointments without notice will be asked to pay a Β£25 deposit when booking future appointments. This deposit will be refunded or your account credited once you attend this booking.

If for any reason you are not able to make your appointment, please let us know as soon as possible. Even a little notice allows us to offer your appointment slot to another pet in need.

We appreciate your continued understanding and support as we work to ensure appointments are available for those who need them.

Thank you

🌑️ Prevention is always better than treatment when it comes to heat stress.
A few simple steps can help keep your pet safe and comfortable during warmer weather:
πŸ’§ Ensure fresh water is always available
🌳 Provide access to shade throughout the day
🏠 Keep indoor spaces cool and well ventilated
πŸš— Never leave pets in parked vehicles
🐢 Consider your pet's individual risk factors, such as age, breed, weight, or underlying health conditions
Remember, pets don't cool themselves as efficiently as we do, which means they can overheat faster than many owners realise.
Taking a few extra precautions can help your pet enjoy the summer safely.

🐾 A little reminder about the importance of keeping your pet's appointments. 🐾

Today, we had **7 patients who did not arrive for their scheduled appointments**.

That may not sound like much, but it added up to **105 minutes** of valuable veterinary time. That's **1 hour and 45 minutes** that could have been spent treating sick or injured animals, seeing urgent cases, or helping pets waiting for an appointment.

We understand that life happens and sometimes plans change. If you're unable to make your appointment, we simply ask that you let us know as soon as possible. Even a quick phone call, email or facebook message can allow us to offer your appointment to another pet in need.

Thank you to all of our wonderful clients who keep us informed. Your consideration helps us provide the best possible care for every animal that comes through our doors. ❀️🐢🐱
