OK folks.
Let's now put all the speculation, rumours, false stories and worrying suggestions and conversations 'to bed' once and for all:
SHUA TRUST & SANCTUARY is still here, it really and truly is still here with ALL its residents.... it's just no longer located at Hayes House in Sully. That property is now a private home to another family and we have moved our primary location.
For those of you who know me (Jacqui), personally, you will probably be aware that I have struggled for many years with my health - physically with all the accidents and falls - not helped by the arthritis and neurological issues BUT also my mental health - certainly NOT helped by running an animal rescue centre! Some of the cases we deal with and the situations we are faced with stretch the willpower of our wonderful Veterinary Team under the guidance of Sylvia Annies at Barry Vets4Pets; they are experienced professionals and chose that career path, but I have found my own emotioal strengths and personal bonds with the animals pushed beyond broken far too many times. Too often my heart and soul has struggled to carry on, to face another painful or cruel situation or lose another broken furbaby.
Kay has been mine and this Charities' absolute Rock. She has constantly held us both "together" and kept everything functioning to our best ability while also maintaining our fabulous Charity shop together with our wonderful team of volunteers and dealing with much of the everyday face to face issues.
But, to allow this to continue working well, certain aspects of our functioning has had to change.
I have spent much of this year on the Isle of Wight - my spiritual home. I have opened a 2nd SHUA Charity Shop there together with a linked design studio. The idea is to teach and demonstrate design, sculpture and painting, running courses primarily for adults with all proceeds together with my own works being being sold at the 2nd shop to finance the continued care of ALL our rescue cats.
Kay has purchased a house on the Island too (which she is relying on me to renovate??) and which currently now houses ALL 44 permanent SHUA residents - Bhagira, Flower, Diesel, Chicken, Major Shave, Salad and all our other golden oldies. This will be their new retirement home where we can at last get to spend quality time with them all as we won't be doing any new rescue work here at all !!
Meanwhile, in Barry we have over 24 full time Foster cats - living their best lives as companions to various members of the community who need their furbaby best friend But need our support to provide the veterinary care, vet trips, emotional support and security should their circumstances change. We have long serving volunteers who are on standby for emergencies- they have traps, nets and hospital kennels should the need arise in a local crisis, our veterinary team here in Barry are also on standby for us for such needs. But of course NONE of this will possibly survive without YOUR continued support!!
Our dedicated volunteers will be conducting the day to day running of our Charity shop - dealing with donations of goods to sell and food for our cats. Kay will be making regular trips back to Barry to help with work at the shop, our Foster homes and of course spend time with her parents. I too will be frequently returning to spend time at the shop and visiting family and friends- so I'm afraid you won't be seeing the last of us!!
But please please please, the real information you have been wondering about, regarding SHUA, will only be found Here on our official page. If anyone is interested I would love to post you updates on our furbabies new adventures here on the Island.
I'm sorry it has taken so long to quash the rumours and update you all, this move started back last September BUT after countless date changes and probable collapse of both Hayes House sale and the new purchase, we only got completion and moved on January 12th.
Thankyou for your kind patience (not just in reading this essay) and hopefully your continued support. We will still be helping & supporting the cats of the Vale of Glamorgan - both here and there.xx
