Tmely blog (with 2 spaces currently remaining on the ONLY Course in July with daily video feedback, dm for details).
"Video feedback provides one of the most accurate, reliable and honest method of personal development. It can be replayed and reviewed in small chunks, there is never any doubt as to what was said or done, which can happen when receiving feedback verbally. If you are able to use this medium then please do so. When using video feedback on the in-hand and ridden courses that I coach I find that participants are often more able to see the “good” in others and the “bad” in themselves and so I encourage participants to watch their own video as if they were looking at somebody that they like and, to quote my dear friend Alexandra Kurland, “Observe without judgement”.
Before receiving feedback from somebody else ensure that you invited it, that you value their opinion and that their option is worth valuing. Explore not speaking while the feedback is being delivered - this is definitely a challenge for most of us. Allow the giver of the feedback to say everything that they have to say and when they have finished, thank them. Interrupting and justifying does not enable us to ingest the feedback and to integrate it into our brain, often meaning that we repeat the same mistakes again. To quote another dear friend, Peter Doherty, “Feedback is a gift”, take it, if you asked for it, and say thank you."
