Well Ivy went to her first independent show today to get a bit of experience (I’ll post some videos shortly!). She did incredibly well and managed 2 clear rounds in first place, one of which she had a very speedy time of just 20 seconds! She had a few moments of being a typical nosey Toller, such as when she noticed a random person in the middle of the ring (the judge!) and also people walking past outside the ring. She did however come back to me very quickly after a brief investigation and did some lovely work overall despite a couple of baby errors/ miscommunication and a very tempting tunnel!

Another bonus is that whilst helping out on one of the rings today I somehow managed to impress the judge/ show manager (probably thanks to a bit of OCD when setting up the courses!) and have been invited to judge at their show next month. It’s not something I’ve done before so will be a great experience for me!

Ivy’s top tip for staying cool, she wrote this post all by herself of course…

‘Rolling in mud is a great way to cool down and it feels lovely! Unfortunately, when it’s this hot it can be quite hard to find any suitable mud so I’ve found a way to make my own. This morning when my mum told me to go and get a drink, I instead used my feet to splash the water all over the ground which created the perfect mud bath for me to then roll in. As you can see by the photos my mum took, the results were perfect and I was very pleased with myself!’

‘Oh and as a side note, it helps if you can perfect the cute look of innocence as your mum can’t tell you off then!’

If you’re wondering what to do next Saturday, why not bring your dog along to Kedington MeadowBark. We will be there running a have a go agility stall all day (depending on weather conditions) plus there will be the opportunity to sign up to various workshops and courses.
We look forward to meeting lots of lovely dogs and their humans!

Another great weekend of competing with Joy, we had a very early start due to the heat but Joy coped very well. We had 6 runs over the 2 days and managed a 1st place and four 2nd’s, plus we also qualified for the finals where we finished 2nd overall!
Ivy was great moral support as usual too!

Happy 1st birthday to my beautiful girl Ivy, she’s grown up to be such a happy, clever girl and the best friend that I’ve always needed!

She’s been very lucky today as she tried some of the liver cake I made her to have as a special treat (using coconut flour to make it grain free). She said it’s very tasty and wanted to eat it all today but I’ve told her we’re going to share it with some of her friends and put the rest in the freezer to use as some high value training treats!

Well I’ve had a very successful weekend competing with Joy yesterday and today. It was our first show at grade 4 and we managed to get three 1st places out of 6 runs plus an unplaced clear! She was a little challenging to run yesterday as she seemed a bit distracted but then had a sleepover with me and Ivy last night which seemed to put her in a great mood for today, I was putting her under a bit of pressure to try and get the best out of her and she responded brilliantly!

Ivy also had a busy weekend as Joys family borrowed her yesterday to do the Bartlow 3 counties walk which was about 10 miles long! Apparently she was very well behaved amongst all the people and dogs and she was being passed round all the children who were taking it in turns to walk her. I also treated Ivy to an early birthday present and brought her a lovely sparkly lead to have for when we start competing. She then joined me and Joy at the show today where we practiced a bit of a heelwork to music routine amongst the distractions of the show environment.

I think both girls will sleep very well tonight!
