In the past I was a very active member of the pony club, representing on dressage, tetrathlon, show jumping and eventing teams. I competed at BE up to JRN and rode under light sponsorship for several owners. I represented my school at national level attaining individual 3rd at Hickstead Champs in 2006

I am a qualified registered BHS II with experience in teaching all ages and abilities from lead rein to B test. I was employed by and trained with the late Helen Barton-Smith at the very successful Pippin Equestrian Centre in Dorset. I followed this up by riding for Tim Boland in Australia for a year schooling competition and race horses. I then show jumped in Belgium on a short contract before being commissioned to set up a riding school in Hanoi Vietnam. I then went on to ride for NH trainer Kim Bailey. I am now branching out as a freelance instructor/trainer/rider.

TRAILER REVERSING TUITION 2024

Do you worry about the drive to competitions and training? The horses are loaded on the trailer and ready to go, you should be looking forward to it but you are are stressing about meeting another vehicle on a narrow lane or what if there’s no turning space when you get to your destination? Fantastic day out for team Bultitude Equestrian. A beautifully run event by Mendip Plains .

Well what a fantastic and productive weekend. We braved the weather and took three horses to CCR equestrian for some pre season show jumping. All horses jumped amazingly, as did Louise O’Brien and Lucy Holmes. And of course it was great to have Andrew Walsh from Fat Potato I.T solutions turn out in the rain to watch his horse (Brego Hasufel) jump.

What a fantastic end to the eventing season for Brego (owned by Andrew and Jodie Walsh from Fat Potato IT). Brego absolutely flew round every aspect of his first 3 day, we even had an extra 5min break after our roads and tracks section because Brego stormed round (and came into the 10min box with a resting heart rate 😱)!

I am so pleased with the progress this young horse has made over the past year and I look forward to the 2022 event season with him and his wonderful owners.

What an absolutely fabulous day (albeit very hot 🥵 ) at Nunney Horse Trials this past weekend. Charlie took Cassie (owned by Michelle Stark Preece ) and Brego (owned by Andrew and Jodie Walsh -- www.fat-potato.co.uk) for another little one day event.

The event was very well run by the Pony Club and it was great to be able to catch up with students, parents and other Pony Club instructors -- Charlie will be teaching both the S&WW and Portman PC camps within the next weeks 🤗

Cassie and Brego - once again, both of these horses did not disappoint and it's great to have two horses that are so happy and willing to take me around these events. There is always something to take away and work on at home, but it is rewarding to feel them improve each time they come out. I look forward to the future with both of these!

I think it is safe to say that Brego (owned by Jodie and Andrew Walsh - www.fat-potato.co.uk) has caught the eventing bug! He jumped a lovely double clear at West Wilts this past weekend and if the pictures are anything to go by, he definitely enjoyed himself!

Not to be forgotten, Cassie (owned by Michelle Stark) also went out and did her first event back. She absolutely loved it and took me into every fence. This was such a nice feeling to be having again with her. She feels unstoppable now! Rider error did mean that we got eliminated cross country, because who needs to jump the last fence anyway 🙈

As always, a massive thank you to the owners for entrusting me with their special horses ⭐ Maisiemai Kirkwood for being super groom and Sara de Jong from SDJ Equine for the beautiful plaits ✨

The horses are both looking extremely well and their coats have a lovely shine to them, all thanks to their Bluegrass Feed.

As it comes with any discipline within the equestrian sector injuries can happen sadly. Louise had an unfortunate fall out cross country schooling which means her and Squirrel are out of action for the foreseeable with a broken wrist😢

So far Louise and Squirrel have had a mixed bag of results this season, but each outing has been an educational one and we are proud of their progress thus far! At West Wilts the pair managed to get their first set of MERs at BE90 🤩

Below is a picture which highlights the importance of wearing a skull cap out cross country schooling as opposed to a fixed peak! 😱

Our sponsored rider, Louise O'Brien, did her first-ever affiliated BE90 event the other weekend. She rode a brilliant dressage test, jumped clear in the showjumping, and had a fantastic XC round -- winning the class (in a section with 34 riders).. almost.. she missed out a fence on the xc course and got eliminated! Definitely not forgetting our sat nav the next time we go round I think 🤪🙈

It's been a busy start to the month here at Bultitude Equestrian, apologies for the silence!

The month started off with Maisiemai taking her own Nala, Louise taking her own Squirrel, and Charlie taking Jodie and Andrew Walsh's Brego (www.fat-potato.co.uk) out show jumping at Prestige Equestrian. Mai did an excellent job riding a rhythm around her course jumping in both the 75cm and 85cm class. Louise jumped in the 1m and 1.05m class, after a quick debrief between the two classes, Louise was able to come back in the second class and take 2nd place 🥈. I am chuffed with both of these riders, taking everything we have worked on over lockdown to the show ring!

Brego did a great job stepping up to the 1m class, though he did start to feel a little bit tired!

The fun doesn't stop there, Brego then went on to do his first ever derby show jumping at Leyland a couple of days later. What a great ride he gave me, he took everything in his stride and seemed to love every minute of it! Looking forward to what the owners and I have planned for him!

Well, what a day we had yesterday!

A lovely day spent at Prestige Equestrian for the Eventer’s Challenge.

Brego (owned by Jodie and Andrew Walsh from Fat Potato IT - www.fat-potato.co.uk) had a brilliant round with just a green pole in the 90cm. Might be time for him to step up! 🤩

The one who stole the show is definitely Maisiemai Kirkwood on her own Nala. This pair has worked so incredibly hard over the best part of under a year, and yesterday’s result of a 1st (!!) in a class of 34 only goes to show how much these two have accomplished as a team!! I’m so incredibly proud of Mai and what she has achieved with not just Nala but with herself as a rider. Well done Mai 🥳👏🥇
