Are you bringing your bird to see us?

Birds are intelligent species and might or might not like to be in a car. Here are some tips to make their experience as good as possible:

- Keep the music/radio low.
- Drive gently.
- Keep the temperature at around 20-22°C and the car well ventilated. Avoid smoking or air fresheners.
- Cover the cage/box with a towel. Darkness naturally sooth birds.
- If the journey is long, make sure they have food and a little bit of water.
- In the hotter days, avoid direct exposure to the sun.

You can also try to get them used to the carrier by letting them to access it and training them to get in and to stay there for a bit at home.

There are products like Pet remedy that can help to sooth and calm your pet. Their efficacy in birds is not proven, but they won’t cause any harm to them.

If you are unsure, or if you have any question, please contact us.

- Keep the car and the container warm.
- For amphibians, very damp/soaked kitchen paper as substrate is enough to help keeping them moist.

This is Monty!
Monty is an albino ferret that came to see us due to eye problems. They thought he would lose his eye. Luckily, his owners acted very promptly. He might not be able to see much from his left eye, but at least he gets to keep it!

These cuties are baby Royal Pythons.

They are part of a larger collection and came for a check-up as they are displaying respiratory signs.

Despite the effort of the owners to keep everything in top condition, great hygiene, and quarantine the new animals, sometimes infections make their way in and can be difficult to deal with.

We will be testing some of the animals and aiming to find the cause of the signs, hopefully to then be able to treat it.

Ruby is an African grey parrot. She comes to see us every year for a full check-up, clip her claws and weigh her.

Most of the exotic species don't need vaccinations, but we recommend regular checks once a year to make sure everything is ok, or to detect things before they get worse.

Don't hesitate to call us or message us if you would like more information.

From 00:01 on Thursday 6th November, if you are a keeper of over 50 birds or a keeper who sells or gives away eggs or poultry products (even if you keep fewer than 50 birds), your birds must be housed. This is mandatory.

The numbers of avian influenza cases continues to escalate in both kept and wild birds. We therefore would encourage all keepers to ensure they follow stringent biosecurity measures.
