I graduated from the University of Glasgow with an Honours degree in Zoology (animal behaviour). During my career I have amassed 24 yearsβ experience in handling police dogs for various disciplines and have a wealth of expertise in training instruction and the management of police dog units. As a keen, high level competitor I have won numerous competitions, including the 50th Anniversary UK Nation
al Police Dog Trials with Police Dog Champion Ralph and have received a Chief Constableβs Commendation for outstanding achievement. I have also competed on the world stage for Great Britain at the FCI Utility Dog World Championships. Recently, my innovative approach to utilising detection dogs to combat crime led to a pioneering project to train Cadaver Dogs to search for remains of persecuted protected species and the deployment of the first Wildlife Crime Dog of its kind in the UK. I also have enjoyed training, working and competing with gun dogs (German Shorthaired Pointers) and have bred German Shepherd and German
Shorthaired Pointers that have gone on to become Field Trial and Police Champions, Police Dogs and qualified sport dogs. In March 2022 I presented at the inaugural World Police Summit K9 Conference in Dubai, UAE on "Preparing k9 Units for the Operational Environment, Maintaining Fitness and Maximising Operational Success".
