Chilling out!
It is really important to sometimes let your dogs do nothing. Allow them to switch off, so they can rest their body and brain!
Spaniel club (and honorary spaniels)
Doing some fun agility to keep their spaniel minds active!
With the amber weather warning in place, I thought I would do a quick post:
πΆ Make sure your dog stays hydrated
πΆ Go on shaded walks or near water
πΆ Avoid the midday heat
πΆ Avoid pavements! Too hot for your hand, too hot for your dog!
πΆ Give your dog a nice frozen treat, frozen carrots are good!
Remember 20 minutes of mental stimulation - training, sniffing, enrichment games is equivalent to an hours worth of physical exercise
We will continue to monitor the weather and reschedule appointments if we need to!
Stay safe!
Havign a dog is more than just being an owner.
It is being a paw-rent, it is having a bond and connection with the furry member of your family.
When you have a dog you are invested, not just financially, but mentally, emotionally and physically.
Being blessed with dogs is a miracle in itself!
At times it can be hard, frustrating and challenging and I know how hard it can be, however I know there is always light at the end of the tunnel and you can turn things around
If you need some help with your dog to get the connection back, send me a message

Happy New Year from us all here at Intelligent Dog Training!
It has been a wonderful year in so many ways and very cruel in others!
We really do need to cherish the time we have with our dogs. We should enjoy every single moment with them.
Being a dog parent can be really hard and challenging at times. There are times when you will be overwhelmed with joy and others when only a glass of wine will help!
If you notice any changes in your dog speak to your vet and if they can't fine anything speak to a behaviourist.
Our dogs are great communicators and will tell us when something is wrong. A change in their behaviour is never for no reason at all! We just need to make sure we listen to them so we can help them!
Hunter had a change in behaviour recently and if we didn't act when we did. He may not have been here today!
As this year draws to a close, I am feeling very thankful for all the support throughout the year from my clients.
It makes me feel very humbled!
Throughout the new year we will be working on getting our waiting list down. This may take a little time so please bare with us!
If you want to be added to our waiting list for individual training or agility, obviously let me know!
Merry Christmas everyone

What a busy few months it has been here at Intelligent Dog Training!
I have been helping a range of dogs with behavioural problems as well as general training needs.
Due to the global pandemic a lot of dogs missed out on their early socialisation. Which that most people are experiencing complications in their training and noticing things that were never really a problem before because the world wasn't normal.
It is ok to feel deflated and exhausted! After all it is completely normal. Living with a dog that is anxious, scared or frightened can be hard work.
Just know you are not along and if you need any help, there I do have a couple of spaces becoming available in person.
My online programmes have gone crazy through with some really incredible results!
So you are struggling, feel deflated, exhausted and can't see a way through your dogs behaviours right now, just drop me a message and I will see how I can help!
As dog owners I think we natural feel gulity when it comes to our dogs.
We feel gulity they can't go off lead and play with their friend
We feel gulity that they pull on the lead as it hurts them
We feel guilty that we have to leave them during the day and they can struggle with that.
It is completely normal to feel guilty, however when you work with me I give you options to change the way you train and to change your mind set so you don't have to feel guilty.
πΎ We can get your dog coming back when called so that he/she can play with their friends
πΎ We can get your dog walking nicely on a loose lead so it doesn't hurt their neck
πΎ We can get your dog comfortable with being left alone so they are not howling whilst you are out
If you are struggling with feeling gulity, get in touch to see how I can help you.

Albie π
How beautiful is this boy!
I specialise in labradors and this boy is a very typical crazy, nutty, loving labrador sho has a love for life.
Albie's training is even more important due to his health issues. We need to ensure he is being as calm as possible when he see's people and well as other dogs
Loose lead walking is a really important part of his recovery, so we will be working hard to ensure he is has the perfect loose lead walking
Puppy Power πΎ
Meet Eliza π
This young lady has been coming to weekly puppy training classes which she loves.
However her mum was struggling with getting her in the car to bring her so asked if I could help.
We played some games and used some of Eliza's favourite treats now she doesn't want to get out!
Training should be FUN and REWARDING for both you and your dog!
If you have a training struggle, get in touch sooner rather than later! I can help you!
Setting your walks up for success! βοΈ
If you leave the house with your dog bouncing off of the ceiling that is going to set the pace for the walk
Try do some training before you go out
Put their lead on 5/10 minutes before you want to go
Make sure you have some tasty treats to hand and reward them for the behaviours you like!

We worked on:
πΎ Loose lead walking
πΎ Focus and Attention on her mummy
πΎ Ignoring sheep poo
πΎ Recall techniques
Plus lots more!
It is really important to put the foundations in at the very start as the older and bigger they get the more they learn naughty habits and the longer it takes to unpick the naughty ones and replace with good habits
If you would like to step your puppy on the right path, get in touch to see how I can help!

Socialisation!!πΆ It really isn't all about meeting other people and other dogs It is about developing your dogs unserstanding of the world and building their confidence with things they might have to experience. It is gradual expose to the world and all the wacky and wonderful things it throws at us. This is Hunter making sense of air going into the matress. This is socialisation. Mowing the lawn - socialisation Being left alone - socialisation Going to the pub - socialisation These of all things we need to help our dog be comfortable with, as well as people and dogs. If you need help with your new puppy and would like a socialisation plan to help your puppy fit into your lifestyle... Feel free to send me a message now

Lula π This little lady has come to improvers and beyond as well as had some private training We have been working on his recall and loose lead walking around distractions and other dogs This clip is from the summer last year when she first started with me. If you are interested in group training, send me a message now to get booked onto my next course
I love getting sent puppy video's from clients! Do you have a new arrival due? Don't know where to start with your training? Worried you might not get things right? Google have too much conflicting information on? Don't worry, I can help you through puppihood. I can give you a training plan to help you through the potential of sleepless nights and little accidents around the house. Get in touch to find out how I can help you ππ
Do you wish your dog would listen to their name when you are on a walk? Are they perfect in the house but turn into "naughty" dog out on a walk? Do you want them to be able to run and play with their friends but you can't let me off because it isn't safe? I remember feeling like I would never get recall from Hunter. He was great with no other dog around but as soon as he saw something remotely like a dog in the distance he disappeared, ignore me and play catch me if you can when I got close. If I did let me off, I would have to hope that we didn't bump into other dogs or pray that I could spot the dog before he did. This made walks stressful! It was so frustrating as he was so responsive in the house and when there were no other distraction! If this is you and your dog, you are not alone! I can help you, send me a message now The video is of Hunter and Indi enjoying a relaxing walk at the beach
From barking and lunging at dogs to swimming in a pool with loads of them around. It is really easy for me to say this but I only give my clients the information and support they need. They have put in hours of their time. This has taken hard work, dedication and patience. It is not easy but I am sure I am not alone in saying it was worth it! Dogs can change their behaviour, it is hard and there may be relapses along the way but this is what can happen ππ
Look at that beautiful loose lead walking! Getting a behaviour right, does take time and repetition but it is highly achievable. Well done Lula! ππ
Check out Izzy!!! Look how truly AMAZING she is! All learnt with lots of treats and praise! I am so proud of you both! ππ If you want to learn this, then you can join my training classes
Look at this amazing recall! β Ozzy β This is my fourth session with this boy! πΆ from 0 recall and a train at the end of the lead πΆ to constant loose lead walking and reliable recall! I am so proud of all the hard work you guys have done!! ππ
Training classes are in full swing! And are FULL! Which is amazing so thank you everyone that has joined! If you would like to go onto my waiting list for October onwards send me a message. Training classes are: πΆ Fun πΆ Challenging πΆ Builds a lasting bond with your pup πΆ Full of socialising for you & your dog πΆ Helps to build your confidence with your dog πΆ Teach them new behaviours/skills #trainingclasses #dogtraining #intelligentdogtraining
