Jacks Legacy

Jacks Legacy Hi we are jacks legacy. Our main goal is…Nurturing wildlife back to nature.

I set up a wild bird and small animal rehabilitation centre, in the mid Suffolk area, after realising there wasnt much support in the area.

Breaking myself in gently, this week I’ve taken in a nestling wood pigeon that was blown out of his nest, and this evening a fledgling blackbird that was brought in by a cat. I’ll pop some pictures up tomorrow. ♥️

We’ve had an amazing surprise donation from Leeann's Charity Wreaths this Christmas of £250. Thankyou so very much for your kindness and for thinking of us. We haven’t been fundraising at all since my op in September as obviously we haven’t been taking much in, but I do still currently have 7 residents in who will be fit for release in the early spring time when the weather warms a bit. This very kind donation will keep them fed etc until then. Merry Christmas to all of our kind supporters, and your families. 🎄

EDIT - wasn’t going to add the video of her the 5 mins before she passed but decided to share

It’s with the deepest sadness to report that our beautiful Mags passed very suddenly today with no warning at all. She was happy bouncing round her aviary this morning, ate her usual breakfast and was her playful self while it was being dished up. Within the hour she was fluffed up on her perch, so I brought her inside and checked her over. Trying to consider all possibilities I came up with nothing of immediate concern. Other than being a little fluffed up there were no other signs of illness at all, eyes and nairs clear, no respiratory symptoms such as agonal breathing or signs of respiratory distress, she was a healthy weight and feathers were in good condition, no evidence of parasites (stools were looking normal no weight issues, no smell etc). Within 10 minutes she appeared to have what we can only assume was a cardiac event, going by how fast it happened and with little to no warning. We are beyond devastated, as you can imagine. Mags had really become such a lovely member of the family. She was originally found after being attacked by other magpies which could in itself indicate that they had sensed of some kind of genetic disorder or heart defect.
RIP Mags you will be sorely missed 💔

MAGS UPDATE Her beak has fully grown back and she’s loving aviary life. Shes been in her aviary since we completed it. Shes such a character, and also now has all of her adult feathers.

******STILL CLOSED*****

Unfortunately still closed as I have had a few complications from surgery which is slowing my healing. Rest assured I am getting there, but amongst other things, DVT takes a while to clear. Thankyou so much for all your patience and support
