Conkers and acorns may be fun for us to collect, but they can be harmful to pets. Both are toxic if eaten and can cause stomach upset, blockages, or even more serious health problems.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Keep walks safe by stopping your dog from picking them up, and clear your garden of fallen ones.

On this special day, we take a moment to celebrate and express our deepest gratitude to the amazing receptionists who are the heart of our practice. As the leaves change colour and autumn sets in, itโ€™s important to be aware of seasonal plants that can be harmful to pets. Some common autumn plants and fungi can be toxic if ingested by curious cats and dogs.

If youโ€™re unsure whether a plant is safe, itโ€™s best to keep your pet away โ€” and always seek veterinary advice if you think theyโ€™ve eaten something toxic.

Betty recently visited our branch surgery The Mustard Pot, for ongoing ear troubles. Whilst waiting patiently for her appointment, she made herself at home by sitting on the client waiting bench, having a play with her new ball and then weighed herself on the scales! She was very sassy and definitely has a โ€œno humans neededโ€ confidence. She kept us all amused!

If you have an anxious dog, our branch surgery at the Mustard Pot in Needham Market is a good option with itโ€™s more peaceful setting and enclosed garden. We use this to our advantage when we have dogs with anxiety who can find waiting rooms or reactivity to other dogs a daunting challenge. We can distract with toys and play to relieve anxious behaviours and work to create a positive association to visiting the vet. We also offer de-sensitisation times for dogs with extreme fear with the veterinary practice.
