🔍 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵! 🐾

Every year, thousands of pets go missing in the UK—and heartbreakingly, many are never reunited with their families. Microchipping gives your pet the best possible chance of finding their way back to you if they ever get lost. But what exactly is a microchip, and why is it so important?

📌 A microchip is a tiny device—about the size of a grain of rice—that’s placed just under your pet’s skin, usually between the shoulder blades. It carries a unique ID number that links to your contact details on a secure database. It’s quick to implant, doesn’t hurt, and lasts your pet’s entire lifetime.

📞 If your pet is found and taken to a vet or dog warden, they can scan the chip and contact you straight away—making it the fastest and most reliable way to be reunited.

📅 𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄?
There are new laws in place to help protect our pets:
🐶 All dogs must be microchipped by 8 weeks old
🐱 All cats must be microchipped by 20 weeks old (as of June 2024)
Failure to comply can result in fines, so it’s not just important—it’s a legal responsibility.

🩺 Only vets, trained pet professionals, or authorised implanters are allowed to carry out microchipping. Choosing someone qualified and animal-welfare focused ensures the procedure is safe and stress-free for your pet.

🕒 𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦’𝘴 𝘢 𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘤𝘬 𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳:
A microchip is only useful if the details linked to it are correct. If you’ve moved house or changed your phone number—take five minutes this Microchip Month to make sure their info is up to date.

Your pet’s safety starts with a chip and continues with your care. 🐕🐈💛

Branch Owner Jo from We Love Pets Cranleigh has been lucky enough to spend some time caring for three handsome boys while their regular groom is on annual leave 🐴❤️

This charming little character has been bringing joy to the team at We Love Pets Bury St Edmunds since 2022. Equal parts cheeky and delightful, Mr Perllie has truly stolen their hearts. ❤️

He has a soft spot for nursery rhymes, cartoons, and cooking shows—his TV tastes are as quirky as his personality! A talented whistler, he loves both performing and being serenaded in return, often turning it into a playful game of mimicry. 🥹

Mr Perllie is known for hopping onto shoulders and, once he trusts you, taking a proud little stroll along your arms and legs. Gaining the trust of a bird like Mr Perllie is a special privilege, and I’m sure it’s an honour for the Bury St Edmunds team every time they visit.

Well done, Mr Perllie—you’re one very special feathered friend! 🫶🏼🦜

What a PAWESOME week it's been! 🐾

We kicked things off at the 165th North Somerset Agricultural Show in Wraxall, where We Love Pets Clevedon proudly sponsored the dog scurry! The weather was glorious—if a little brisk—and it was wonderful to see so many happy pups and their humans enjoying the day. 🐶

Next up, a fantastic team effort from our We Love Pets branches in Braintree, Broomfield, and Chelmsford, who came together for two tail-waggingly brilliant days at the All About Dogs show in Essex. Just dogs, dogs, and more dogs—what could be better?

A huge thank you to our incredible franchisees and their team members who gave up their bank holiday weekends to make both events such a success.

Summer is just around the corner! 🌞
And whilst we may be happy about the sunshine and heat, our pets might not be!

How can we help our pets stay cool and comfortable? 🥵
Whether they bark, purr, nibble or neigh, our furry friends feel the heat just like we do — and some clever cooling can make all the difference. Here’s how to help pets stay safe and chilled when the sun’s out:

𝗗𝗼𝗴𝘀 & 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝘀 🐶🐱
• Offer pet-safe frozen treats (like ice lollies made with water, tuna brine or dog-safe yoghurt)
• Keep walks to early morning or late evening
• Always provide shaded rest spots and fresh water
• Encourage your dog to participate in water play whether it be in a local stream or a paddling pool
• Keep pets well groomed to reduce excess fur and heat retention
• Use cooling mats, damp towels, fans and cooling vests to aid in body temperature regulation

𝗥𝗮𝗯𝗯𝗶𝘁𝘀 & 𝗛𝗮𝗺𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 🐰🐹
• Freeze a ceramic tile or water bottle (wrapped in a towel) for them to lie against
• Keep hutches or cages out of direct sunlight
• Avoid excessive handling during the hottest parts of the day
• Use cooling treats such as carrots and cucumbers that have been kept in the fridge

𝗛𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲𝘀 🐴
• Ensure constant access to fresh water
• Use shade or field shelters during turnout
• Hose down or sponge off with cool (not cold) water when needed
• Use fly sheets and UV protective rugs sparingly and only if they are breathable and necessary
• Ensure adequate ventilation in stables by using fans if needed and safe.

𝗡𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮 𝗽𝗲𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝗵𝗼𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗿 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗮𝗺𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲.

And remember — signs of overheating can creep up fast. Always watch for lethargy, excessive panting, or changes in behaviour.

Thanks to the gorgeous couple in the photo We Love Pets Stowmarket had our first Wedding Chaperone service booking happen this weekend and we couldn't have been more pleased with how it went 🙌

In this instance we arranged to collect the dogs (whilst they got on with their day and what needs to happen with the ceremony etc) and took care of them with walks, feeding or just giving them company then transported them to their venue of choice and waited with them (whilst they continued with what was most important 🍾) then assisted in getting them to be a part of whatever they needed whether photos, the ceremony or just so they can be a part of things and then transported them back and stayed overnight doing whatever they required so the couple could enjoy their whole day and night with no extra worries 😅

We're professional, trained, courteous, smartly presented and most of all we care so much about these pets and want to help our clients achieve what they want so their beloved extended family that they wanted with them could be there on the day 🤗🥂🎉💐💍

This month we celebrate our first year of We Love Pets Stowmarket 🤗 call us dog walkers, pet sitters or our official title of 'Professional Poo Picker Upperers' 🫣 or whatever you want but we're here to stay!

In 1yr we've worked with over 150 dogs, cats, rabbits, gerbils and a host of other animals including a chinchilla 😍 and we've engaged in over 3700hrs across 1280 visits between us providing much needed and valuable pet care to all our beloved customers who we couldn't have done it without and have received 50x 5* reviews on Google for our trouble 💪

We've had our share of ups and downs but are genuinely so grateful to be doing this in such a great community as Stowmarket and all the beautiful surrounding villages and now we're looking forward to seeing what 2025 brings us 🙌 with a great team of walkers and pet sitters/boarders behind us we know we'll be looking back this time next year having met and experienced so many more of everyone's wonderful pets that we love as our own ❤️

Just to show we also love to take care of different animals other than dogs (for some reason the owners are slightly less happy with them being shared on social media maybe the pets are just not as hungry for the limelight we don't know! 😆) but welcoming a couple of gorgeous additions to our pet family here.

Cuddles and playtime are the order of the day and we certainly love to indulge them in that with nothing being too much 🤗

Great to finally get the team together again (not all unfortunately as 3 others couldn't be there and were missed!) for a Monday Team Meeting yesterday at the lovely Cafe 24 in Stonham Barns 🤗 we'll definitely be back lots especially when the cake and service is so great so thanks to the lovely Tracy for serving us and taking the snap helping us avoid any awkward selfies 😆

Apologies if anyone has not been answered who has been applying to join our growing team into the various areas we cover but we're processing some 15+ more applicants so we will get around to you we promise and soon 🙌

We currently have a few opportunities available so if you read the following and think it sounds like you then please get in touch as we're particularly after:

Walker/Sitter
- Can drive and has own vehicle (we do consider and have non-drivers in the team as we don't discriminate but it does reduce opportunities so we're not needing this right now 🫣)
- Wants to pet sit overnight for anything between 1-10 days (most likely 2-3 at a time) but can be weekends too
- Able to cover whats needed as well as potentially help grow business and drive interest in their own area
- Willing, adaptable and keen to get out there and do the brand proud wearing We Love Pets as a mantra not just a red clothing item 😝

Boarder/Day Care Provider
- Has suitable secure property but no pets currently of their own
- Could suit a family wanting pets but not ready to commit yet
- Need to walk and other activities the dogs being boarded (but not used in other clients don't worry)
- Self employed and addition to income not relying on it

Technically we've had this young older man for a little while now but we realise he's never had the love of a lovely welcome from us into the family like now 😊
