SOS Animal Charity Shop

SOS Animal Charity Shop SOS Animal is a non-profit making charity based on the holiday island of Majorca, with connections in the EU, mainly Germany and Great Britain. Can You Help?

SOS was created in 1995 by Majorcan and European people, who were concerned for the welfare of animals. There has been an agreement during this time with the council, and all dogs and cats sent to the municipal pound, (either stray, abandoned, or unwanted) are transferred to the care of SOS Animal. Since this system has been in operation no animal has been destroyed that had any chance of life. In

2004 SOS Animal became a registered charity. Cat Neutering Campaign
One of the most important parts of our animal welfare work is to prevent, by castration or neutering, the constant tide of puppies and kittens, locally and abroad. Annually 700 feral cats are caught, castrated and released. Tame cats go to cattery and are neutered and re-homed. Coupons for free castration are given for kittens and puppies, when they are old enough, at one of the vets participating in this campaign. We are always in need of funding, as we never turn away an animal in need of help, here or abroad. We are desperate to extent our kennels, so that we are able to take on more animals, which may be otherwise destroyed. If you would like to help us and would be able to donate just £1 a month please pop into Stourport's shop (on Lombard Street) to receive a form. We also rely on the kind donations of clothes and good to keep the shop running. If you have anything you would like to pass on we would be very grateful and we are happy to collect. The shop number is 01299 825832

In January of this year, the Joint-Master of the Cotswold Vale Farmers Hunt, Nathan Goulding, rode his horse at two female sabs from Welsh Border Hunt Sabs.

He was found guilty of assault and battery and sentenced to a six-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £676 in costs.

Hunting and violence go hand in hand. You only have to read the comment sections sections on our posts highlighting attacks on women by hunters, to see claims such as, "she was asking for it" and "serves her right".

Hunters are deeply disturbed individuals who enjoy seeing others suffer, whether by attacking innocent, defencless animals or by targeting female sabs. We need to end the smokescreen of "trail hunting" and bring hunting to an end for good.

Please complete the government's trail hunting consultation by 18 June - this is our chance to end the violence.

Finally, Wales has made history for wildlife.

In 2023, Wales became the first nation in the United Kingdom to officially ban animal snares, marking a major victory for animals.

Snares are wire traps that tighten around an animal's neck or body, often leaving them trapped for hours or even days.

Animal welfare groups say animals caught in snares can suffer panic, exhaustion, dehydration, severe injuries, and prolonged suffering while desperately trying to escape.

The traps can also capture foxes, badgers, rabbits, hedgehogs, cats, dogs, and other non-target animals, making them one of the most controversial wildlife control methods.

Campaigners spent years calling for change, arguing that no animal should have to endure such fear and suffering.

For many animal lovers, Wales' decision is proof that compassion for wildlife is growing stronger.

Because wild animals deserve to live free, not die in a trap.
