Meet lovely Ron!

This young Labrador decided to supplement his diet with a few stones from the garden, unbeknown to his mum and dad!

He was sick one morning and then by the afternoon refused to eat even treats, on examination by one of our vets a swelling in his abdomen could be palpated so we xrayed him. Turned out it wasn't just the one problem, see below, 6 stones!!

Gillian and Lucy stayed late to operate and remove the stones. Fortunately Ron has recovered well and is back to his normal bouncy self. His owners have spent the last week removing all the small stones from their garden!

We are really glad Ron is doing well but this isn't always the case when dogs or cats eat foreign material. Not all things ingested are visible on xray to know to operate promptly. Unfortunately surgery to the guts expecially when damaged by something getting stuck is very prone to complications and breakdown. Take care if you know your pet is a scavenger!

Our front of house areas are looking sparkling now the paint work has been completed.

Yesterday instead of their usual animal care duties Kay, Ann, Lucy and Josh put their DIY skills to good use to reinstall our stands and ensure they are fixed firmly in place even with full shelves.

Excellent teamwork as always 🤩
