Our next update is unfortunately a very sad one 💔
We never formally introduced Judy on the page purely because she was taken from her mum too early (through no fault of her own) and she was very young and very small when she come to join us and our Salthouse family. We were not sure whether she would survive or not.
Fortunately, Jude was doing brilliantly and was loving life with her adopted siblings. She thoroughly enjoyed sharing our sandwiches and even the odd cake 🧁 and she was starting to grow nicely, although we expected she would remain much smaller than the others.

Unfortunately, our beautiful little girls’ life was cut far too short by a reckless driver who hit her and didn’t even bother to stop and move her. Another driver actually spotted her and moved her and let a local know. Devastatingly, by the time we found her (she wasn’t one to stray far from the barn), she was too weak and injured to save. She died in my partners arms that night.

We will never know whether early intervention could’ve saved Judy, but my god we would’ve tried had we have known.

To all the road users out there, if ever you come across an injured animal, please do not just assume the worst. Give the animal a chance, take a moment out of your day and check on them. Get them to a vet if there are signs of life.

Judy wasn’t even a year old and she did not deserve to die.

Forever in our hearts little girl 💕

Firstly, we can share some very happy news with the safe arrival of our little bundle of joy 👶🏻 not at all horsey but in true Salthouse style, my induction was delayed until I was assured that one of our horses who has decided to injure himself the evening prior, was actually okay… and yes, I was on the phone with our wonderful vets whilst in the maternity suite 😂

Happy two years to Dusty and his mum 🥳

After what has been a very difficult few days, with more hospital visits than hot dinners 🏥 I am now feeling well enough to share about our most recent departure.
Our biggest resident to date, Colonel ♥️ we are really pleased for his owner who has been able to move him much closer to home so that she can see him every day and not have to battle with the M6 and spend hours in her car to visit us 😂 it will also be lovely to see him and Sam reunited in the coming weeks 🥰 Big Man moved just in time to see in the New Year with his mum 🎆
Originally Colonel came to us on retirement livery, but with a little TLC and help from our wonderful vets at Little Rock, he soon came out of his shell and was brought back into work 🐎 it is safe to say that everyone who met him adored his gentle giant ways and even my niece was fortunate enough to ride a Shire Horse! He was such a good boy that even our personal 4yo stallion was tolerated by him 😂
We are so very grateful to have been part of Colonel and his mums journey and we look forwards to catching up with them once everyone is settled in and perhaps the weather is a little nicer ☀️ we miss you both already but love the updates that we have received so far, complete with his happy squeal on video 🥰

Two years ago today, we opened our doors to our very first livery client 🥳
It’s been a very busy two years and we have met some truly wonderful people, but as we look towards the next 12 months we will rarely be opening our doors to new clients. We have decided to keep the yard smaller and ensure that all of us are able to enjoy the atmosphere - drama free. If you are on the waiting lists, please do not be offended, this is very much a personal decision in light of events that have unfolded over the past 6 months.
Picture of our newest resident, Reggie, meeting our 4yo stallion for the first time 🥰 Reg has been with us for almost 2 weeks and is growing in confidence each day ♥️ he is part of our coblet family, with his owner now keeping 3 ponies with us while she works abroad 🇰🇼

We’ve been very quiet on here as of late - everything is going well, we’re just busy 😅

But today marks a special day, even if slightly bitter sweet. Two years ago to the day we signed our contracts taking on Salthouse Stables and what a two years it has been! We feel very privileged to have been part of so many individual journeys and to have made what we would consider, life-long friends ♥️ as we look toward the next year, we have some exciting plans in place 🤞🏻 and despite being incredibly busy, we are looking towards 2026 with a huge amount of hope, a good dollop of love for what we are creating, and a dash of “f*** it” for good measure 😂

Having said that, today we have also waved goodbye to Sam as he has gone to his new home much closer to where his owner lives. Sam’s journey has certainly been an interesting one, from us haggling with his seller, collecting him over the Easter weekend and then him having several health issues partly due to having such a poor start, we are now confident that Sam has landed on his feet, is in much better physical health and will now get to enjoy some quality time with his owner 🥰 we wish them both the absolute best of luck and look forwards to some updates of him as he enters his 3rd year of life 🐴 here’s to looking forwards to the next chapter ♥️
