Our next update is unfortunately a very sad one 💔
We never formally introduced Judy on the page purely because she was taken from her mum too early (through no fault of her own) and she was very young and very small when she come to join us and our Salthouse family. We were not sure whether she would survive or not.
Fortunately, Jude was doing brilliantly and was loving life with her adopted siblings. She thoroughly enjoyed sharing our sandwiches and even the odd cake 🧁 and she was starting to grow nicely, although we expected she would remain much smaller than the others.
Unfortunately, our beautiful little girls’ life was cut far too short by a reckless driver who hit her and didn’t even bother to stop and move her. Another driver actually spotted her and moved her and let a local know. Devastatingly, by the time we found her (she wasn’t one to stray far from the barn), she was too weak and injured to save. She died in my partners arms that night.
We will never know whether early intervention could’ve saved Judy, but my god we would’ve tried had we have known.
To all the road users out there, if ever you come across an injured animal, please do not just assume the worst. Give the animal a chance, take a moment out of your day and check on them. Get them to a vet if there are signs of life.
Judy wasn’t even a year old and she did not deserve to die.
Forever in our hearts little girl 💕
