Midsummer Madness 2025… The Road to Brighton 🎡

It’s easy to be sucker-punched into desiring the sparkle, the glitz and the glimmer of the creative industry, but we are always chasing ways to better the ‘substance’ in the work we create…

Let’s face it, it’s tough out there for young creatives trying to make an impact! So we’ll just keep jam-packing our students’ toolkits to the brim; giving them a well-stocked armoury of skills, technique, talent and discipline to help them ride the big waves when they come 🤙🌊⭐️

And when we perform - on car parks, in theatres, in community hubs, in Victorian buildings, on screens, via LIVE streams, on historic sites, in different cities - we will always do it FULL of substance and with our own style… No smoke. No mirrors. Just awesomeness 😜

The BEST game of Not Bingo we’ve ever played… From searching for babies in a tree, to LIVE streamed political speeches about vegetables’ feelings… From slow-motion-into-sped-up fight scenes to ay up, me ducks 🐤…From party guest quirks to arty christmas cakes atop the Swiss Alps… From Heinz tomato ketchup to Film Noir crime scenes (à la 77 Sunset Strip) culminating in a final LIVE streamed celebration of Gertie LaRue.

Our Last Day of Term’s are pretty famous around these ‘ere parts… 😎😜
We don’t just know how to build and develop incredible young actors, we know how to create INSANELY imaginative lessons packaged as gigglesome fun and a soupçon of crazy😎

And now that our human bodies are back from a little break away at the battery recharging plant, the prep for our acclaimed Summer Workshops is officially underway!

So much excitement in store for our students over the next 12 months…the pipeline is fit to burst!!

🥳 Happy Sweet Sixteenth, Lily! 🥳

The last of the Class of ‘25 to turn the big 1-6!

Lily has blossomed into an excellent and thoughtful young actor who happily rises to the challenge of taking on a diverse range of roles.

She is a dedicated young performer who doesn’t quite realise just how talented she is or how far she has travelled on her acting journey.

Not only is Lil a brilliant young actor, but she is also ‘The Godmother’ of the group - making sure that everyone works hard and offering the younger students in class lots of support and encouragement.

What a transformation you’ve had, Lily… the commitment and dedication to developing your craft has seen you grow into roles such as ‘Aslan’ in The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe and ‘Betty-Lou’ in How The Grinch Stole Christmas.

We can’t wait to see what happens next in your performing arts pathway!

The second Sweet Sixteenth Birthday of our Class of ‘25… Scarlett the Sensational 🥳

Scarlett is a super-power, super-disciplined and super-skilled performer who embraces every opportunity and every role she plays with complete humility and gratitude - including ‘Peta’ in our 2024 production of ‘The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe’, ‘Hero’ in ‘Once Upon A Christmas’ and ‘Venus’ in ‘Twisted’ amongst many others.

Scarlett is one of the most gracious students to ever walk through our doors and her loyalty and commitment to The Young Rep and her training are second to none (spending an entire term on crutches…not to mention attending class 4 days after a knee operation!)

Her desire to constantly improve and refine her skills and knowledge is inspirational and her stage etiquette and discipline are hard to match.

Scarlett’s talent is fuelled by her passion for the arts and there is no doubt that this exceptional young actress has a promising career ahead of her. We will miss Scarlett’s dedication and undeniable love for acting, but are looking forward to watching her soar in her next chapter!

Happy Sweet Sixteenth, Scarlett! 🥳🎭

⭐️Our parent company, SCARLET THEATRE, are celebrating TEN insanely awesome years of making magically creative theatre this year and they’re officially old enough to be releasing their first Greatest Hits album*😎🤘

*Scarlet Theatre’s 2025 Summer Workshops will feature some of their favourite scripts and material from their supersonic sell-out workshops from across the last 10 years! 😜

With brand NEW workshops and creative ways to re-imagine these Allstars, we know it’s going to be the hot ticket for wannabe young actors and performers aged 11 - 18 this August and we cannot wait to go on even more adventures this summer!

There are a limited number of places available at our Summer Workshops… We keep our numbers capped to ensure the BEST experience for our young performers…💪

Scarlet Theatre will also be looking to cast the team of young performers for the December ‘25 production of A ChRiStmaS CaROL from this year’s workshops, so get on it like a car bonnet 👍

We’ve always worked incredibly hard to create an imaginative and interactive syllabus of lessons and workshops for our student actors and our SKILLS terms are very much where we see the magic happen; with so much progression and development amongst the students.

It’s no secret that we are in the age of instant gratification; where technology fuels the desires of young people for immediate rewards, experiences and results… But we remain committed to driving the importance of LEARNING and UNDERSTANDING process, practice and discipline… words that are sometimes overlooked or forgotten in performing arts when there are so many opportunities to ‘be a star’.

Being a great performer is not an overnight win… it requires effort, commitment, passion and drive. Our SKILLS terms always bring out the BEST in the students who step into the room ready to win and armed with these attributes…
From our youngest little noodles who are learning to be brave and step into their own confident light to our soon-to-be graduates who are hungry for feedback to improve and refine their technique and depth of performance.

We challenge our students to challenge themselves… whilst also having an insane amount of fun in the process.

It’s been a supersonic spring term, so we’re going to have a slam-bang finish tomorrow before the work begins on our madcap summer adventure! 😜

Work hard. Play hard. Repeat.

It’s a Tragedy.
(Happy World Theatre Day!🎭)

Theatre, an ancient yet evolving art form, has captivated audiences for… a very long time!

From the great auditoriums of ancient Greece to the intimate stages of modern black-box productions, the magic of live performance continues to draw us in.

The World Theatre Day message for 2025 comes from theatre director and practitioner, Theodoros Terzopoulos, who has conceived and established a unique acting approach to Ancient Greek tragedy… he encourages us as creators to find new ways to ‘investigate the multiple dimensions of the human enigma…’

So, let us celebrate the TRAGEDY and remember that without failure there can be no feat of triumph. Without death and sadness there can be no resolve, or turning point, or hope for the protagonist. Without darkness and fear there can be no light or moment of heroism. Without despair there can be no joy.

Without TRAGEDY there can be no comedy 🎭
